Only hits the zone 40.5% of the time (112th/153 pitchers with at least 20 IP), and the Tigers have the ninth lowest chase rate. Overall, DET sees 3.92 pitches per PA (9th overall). Plus, we have great hitting weather today.

He just doesn’t miss enough bats - 18th percentile in whiff rate, despite a 16 whiff performance vs a terrible Rockies lineup. Phillies with a 19.3% K% vs righties over the L2 weeks (8th best), and more specifically,the 8th lowest called strike rate. Just don’t see Berrios getting into enough 2 strike counts vs this lineup.

Under in 4/7, and only has exceeded 6 Ks once (opening day vs the Angels). Gets a Nats lineup with 7 guys who have a sub-20% K% vs righties - and one who doesn’t (Rosario) has not K’ed in 5 ABs vs Burnes. And he’s been excellent vs lefties in general (.223 wOBA), but only a 18.2% K%. He faces five lefties today.

Double digit boards the last 5 games vs the Cavs (dating back to last season). 10+ in 4/5 vs the Heat (miss was 8 in the game the Heat won). Won’t be directly involved in PnR action with Mitchell or Garland - should be free to crash the boards at will.

Civale 5+ Ks + Quantrill not to record a win-130

Civale coming off a tough start vs NYY, but he’s looked good overall: 3.90 ERA/3.09 xERA. Generating more strikeouts thanks to a new sweeper he’s started throwing to righties this season. He gets 6 righties today (5 of them K prone). 5+ Ks in 4/5 starts.
I see this as a game where Quantrill is going to struggle to get through 5 IP, let alone putting the Rockies in position to win. The altitude should wreak havoc with this one, and I don’t trust a Rockies bullpen to hold the lead even if Cal somehow gets through 5 with the Rockies winning.
