Matt Mitchell
Summary
Matt is the impresario of the Action Network's podcast portfolio. He's been betting on sports daily since 2007, shortly after cashing his first post-collegiate paycheck. Prior to joining Action, he drove the Oscar Mayer Wienermobile.
Experience
Matt is the longest-tenured producer at the Action Network. His first bad beat came in 1998, when he bet a family member $20 that Randy Moss would not catch 10+ touchdowns his rookie season. Moss went on to catch 17, a record that will never be broken. Matt began covering sports in 2006 as a writer for Player Magazine, owned by professional gambler Avery Cardoza, as well as the quickly-defunct tout site GameSeven.com. He lived on the road for nearly four full years after college managing promotional marketing tours, and has a strong opinion about your hometown.
His bizarre and colorful professional resume includes driver of the Oscar Mayer Wienermobile, exterminator, International League bat boy, line packer at a scientific supply warehouse and a stint with Big Tobacco. After going back to school to pursue his passion for audio production, he became one of Action's earliest contractors in 2017, and was hired full-time the next year. Under his watch the company's flagship Action Network Podcast was recognized as the Best Sports Betting Podcast or Radio Show by the Fantasy Sports & Gaming Association.
Education
Matt graduated from the University of Missouri Journalism School. He also holds a master's degree from the Newhouse School of Public Communication at Syracuse University, where he studied audio production.
