Tua Tagovailoa has an unfortunate concussion history, which is why it was particularly scary to see him forced from Thursday night’s game against the Bills after sustaining a hit to the head. He was eventually declared out with another concussion.
Tagovailoa was injured on a 4th-and-4 from Buffalo’s 13-yard line with Miami down 21-points. He scrambled up the middle and lowered his shoulder instead of sliding, taking a hard-hit from Damar Hamlin. The quarterback laid on the field in pain before eventually walking into the locker room alongside the Dolphins’ training staff.
Tagovailoa struggled before leaving, completing 17-of-25 passes for 145 yards, one touchdown and three interceptions including a pick-six. He also ran twice for 17 yards.
Skylar Thompson replaced Tagovailoa but couldn't get much going on offense. He wasn't able to punch the ball into the end zone with the team knocking on Buffalo's doorstep, which was pretty much the dagger for any hopes of a Miami comeback. He finished 8-of-14 for 80 yards along with one carry for another four on the ground.
