Anthony Joshua vs. Andy Ruiz II Betting Odds
- Anthony Joshua odds: -333
- Andy Ruiz Jr. odds: +250
Andy Ruiz Jr. pulled off one of the most stunning upsets in boxing history by knocking out British heavyweight champion Anthony "AJ" Joshua on June 1 at Madison Square Garden.
In all likelihood the two heavyweights will meet again sometime this year as there was a rematch clause in the contract for their first fight, meaning Ruiz is obligated to fight Joshua next unless the two come to a new agreement.
Ruiz will need to upset the odds in the rematch, which will likely take place in the United Kingdom at the end of 2019, but the price isn't nearly as high as it was for Joshua-Ruiz I.
Joshua was a -5000 favorite over Ruiz, a journeyman boxer who took the fight on short notice after Jarrell Miller — Joshua's original opponent for his U.S. debut — tested positive for PEDs. Ruiz reached as high as 25-1 in the buildup to the now famous night at MSG.
When you convert the rematch odds to implied probability, Joshua has a 72.9% chance (without adjusting for the vig) of winning the rematch. That is high, but not anywhere close to the 96.2% implied probability he had for Joshua-Ruiz I.
