A pair of undefeated fighters meet in the boxing ring on Saturday when Gervonta Davis takes on Rolando Romero. Bettors are showing early conviction in the underdog.
Davis (26-0) is the overwhelming favorite, but his odds have dropped from the opening number of -1250 to -700. Meanwhile, Romero (14-0) has shortened from +650 to +450 while taking over 70% of bets and dollars.
According to data released by BetMGM, 73% of bets and 76% of the dollars are on Romero, who is coming off back-to-back wins by TKO.
Just 12% of bets are on Davis. A draw is the longshot at +2500, which has taken 15% of bets.
Both figures are knockout artists, with Davis winning 24 of his 26 professional fights by KO and Romero knocking opponents out in 12 of his 14 wins.
The match takes place at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn and is for the World Boxing Association World Light Title.
Davis's last fight was in December when he took a unanimous decision victory over Issac Cruz. Before that, he knocked out Mario Barrios in June 2021.
Romero finished Anthony Yigit in July and Avery Sparrow in January 2021.
Davis is accustomed to being the big favorite. He closed around -950 against Cruz and -425 against Barrios. In his three fights prior to defeating Barrios, Davis closed as a favorite of over -1300 in each.
This will be the first time Romero is an underdog, according to ProBoxingOdds database, which has his matches back to 2020. He closed as a -400 favorite against Yigit and -650 against Sparrow.
