United States vs. South Africa T20 Cricket World Cup Odds, Picks, Best Bets
Team USA has already made history by qualifying for the Super 8 stage of the 2024 T20 Cricket World Cup, but the story is far from finished.
The Yanks will now play in a round-robin against South Africa, England and the West Indies to determine which two teams from their side of the draw move onto the semifinals.
The Americans open up the Super 8 stage against South Africa on Wednesday morning (10:30 a.m. ET) at Sir Vivian Richards Stadium in Antigua. The Proteas are a -650 favorite in the match, with the U.S. coming back as a +430 underdog.

The story of the 2024 T20 World Cup so far has been the lack of runs. It's been a tournament that has been dominated by the bowlers and tricky pitches, which in theory should be good news for the United States.
The Yanks lack all-world batsmen compared to the rest of the countries left standing in the tournament, so a lack of scoring should keep totals within reach. If teams were regularly threatening 200 runs, there would be little hope that the Americans could pull another upset.
The downside is that the South African bowlers don't need any help being dominant. The Proteas didn't have to run a gauntlet in Group D, but they bowled out Sri Lanka for 77 runs in 19.1 overs and then kept the Netherlands, Bangladesh and Nepal to under 115 runs each. Those aren't elite teams.
South Africa's stats were aided by playing a couple of matches on very ticklish wickets in New York, but those performances still were noteworthy.
It's been a different story with the bat.
Like many teams in this tournament, South Africa has yet to get going with the bat and was last seen really struggling to get in any sort of rhythm against Nepal. Now they'll take on an American attack that has exceeded expectations and was last seen keeping India in check.

This is a significant mountain to climb for the United States, but the scoring conditions of this tournament should provide them at least a platform for an upset.
In addition to a play on the Yanks to get the win, I'd consider a punt on Aaron Jones to be the top run-scorer for Team USA at +440.
Jones grew up in Barbados and plays plenty of domestic cricket in the West Indies, so he should be familiar with these conditions. It also doesn't hurt that he's had a terrific tournament with the bat so far.
