By examining ghost sightings in the region, haunted sentiments in Google reviews, and eerie Google Map ratings, Action Network unveils the most haunted casinos in the U.S.
How We Measured the Haunted
To uncover the most haunted casinos, we developed a haunted casino score based on:
- Ghost Sightings in the Region: We found reports of ghostly encounters in each state, with higher sightings contributing to a higher haunted score.
- Sentiments in Reviews: Analyzing Google reviews, we quantified instances where visitors mentioned words like "spooky" or "haunted."
- Google Maps Rating: Lower star ratings contributed to the score suggesting that perhaps not all visitors left due to bad luck.
We analyzed a list of casinos from Casino Avenue. A total of 824 casinos were scraped and analyzed. The higher the score, the more haunted the casino.

Methodology
The goal of this project is to identify the most haunted casinos in the United States by analyzing casino reviews, ghost sightings by state, Google reviews, and sentiment analysis of those reviews.
The content in this project is for entertainment purposes only, seeking to entertain casino enthusiasts, who might also be interested in our Best Online Casinos and Best Social Casinos pages.
Google Reviews Analysis
We conducted an in-depth scan of Google reviews for keywords such as "spooky," "ghost," "haunted," and "scary." Each instance of these mentions contributed 2 scary points to the casino's overall score. This method helped capture user-reported experiences and sentiments related to paranormal activities.
Casinos with a higher proportion of 1-star reviews were awarded 1 scary point, as these negative experiences could potentially contribute to or reflect an eerie atmosphere within the casino.
Ghost Sightings per State
Data on reported ghost sightings was sourced from Ghosts of America, which provides information on paranormal activities by state. Casinos located in states with a higher frequency of ghostly encounters were allotted 2 additional scary points, reflecting the region's spectral reputation.
Scoring and Ranking
The total haunted score for each casino was derived by aggregating the scary points from all three data sources. Subsequently, we ranked the casinos on a scale ranging from 0 to 5, with 5 representing the pinnacle of scariness.
