Let's dive into the Czechia vs Turkey odds and make a pick and prediction in our Euro 2024 betting preview for Wednesday, June 26.

Czechia is in a must win scenario when they take on Turkey in their final group stage match.

Because they only have one point from two matches, Czechia needs to win to get to the knockout stage. They were incredibly unlucky to not get the win against Georgia in their previous match, but are set up pretty well here against Turkey to get all three points.

Turkey lost 3-0 to Portugal, but they are still in the drivers seat to get to the knockout stage. A draw or a win would match them up against Austria in the first round of the knockout stage, which will be pretty enticing for coach Vincenzo Montella's side.

Czechia Picks

Czechia was incredibly impressive against Georgia despite the 1-1 final scoreline. They ended up creating 3.0 expected goals and had numerous chances via crosses, which is not a surprise. What Czechia also showed against Georgia is how good of a high pressing team they are. They had a whopping 28 high recoveries in that match, which is the most of anyone so far in this tournament.

What you also saw though is even though they are a good pressing team, once you beat the first line of pressure, the entire pitch opens up for easy transition opportunities the other way. By nature, even though they like to press high, Czechia is a very slow team and don't have great defenders when defending those transition moments.

Czechia basically likes to utilize that press to not only force turnovers, but get the ball out-wide and swing in a bunch of crosses. They attempted 45 crosses in the match, which is by far the most ever in a Euro match. Turkey has struggled defending crosses so far and the Czechs also have a ton of tall aerial threats in the box to give Turkey problems.

With 11 minutes still to go, Czech Republic have attempted 36 crosses against Georgia. That is the most by any team so far at Euro 2024 after Serbia attempted 33 against Slovenia.

It remains 1-1 in Hamburg, though. Can either team find a winner?#GEOCZE#Euro2024pic.twitter.com/pNtdunnaIs

Turkey Picks

What Turkey was doing successfully against Portugal was long balls over the top. Before Portugal scored, Turkey had a couple of really threatening attacks because they were playing balls over Portugal's press and getting chances in behind.

Turkey has technicians and press resistant players all over the pitch to rip Czechia apart, but they are really prone to turning the ball over in their own end. Montella wants his team to build out of the back, but sometimes that can come back to bite them. They played a friendly against Austria in March where they allowed Austria over 10 high turnovers, which led to easy transition opportunities and eventually a 6-1 defeat.

Turkey though isn’t that great of a defensive team and actually really struggled defending crosses. They have allowed 19 accurate crosses against both Georgia and Portugal with six of those being completed into the penalty area, which is the fifth most in this tournament. That is a problem because that is how Czechia creates most of their chances.

Prediction

This is going to be a very fun back and forth type of match with a lot of chances at both ends of the pitch. Turkey could play conservatively, sit back and try to play for a draw, but that really isn't in their nature. They're a team that likes to play on the front foot and play in transition.

Turkey is going to do one of two things — they are either going to try to build out of the back against Czechia's man to man high press or they are going to try to play over the top. Both situations create a transition based match with not a lot sustained possession and chances at both ends of the pitch.

With this set up to be a very high event type of match, I have 3.03 goals projected for it, so I like the value on Over 2.5 goals at +100.

Pick: Over 2.5 (+100 via Bet365)
