San Francisco 49ers quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo will miss at least seven to eight weeks after suffering a broken foot last week against the Miami Dolphins, meaning that Brock Purdy, Mr. Irrelevant in the 2022 NFL Draft, will now be counted on to lead the team into the postseason.
It's been a bad year to be a quarterback in San Francisco as starter Trey Lance suffered a season-ending ankle injury back in September, and now it's unlikely that Garoppolo will be able to return as well.
However, Purdy filled in admirably for Garoppolo against Miami, throwing for 210 yards, two touchdowns and just one interception in the 49ers' 33-17 win over the Dolphins.
San Francisco is clearly committed to Purdy, but what does that mean for his fantasy football prospects in Week 14 against Tampa Bay?
To answer this question, we turned to the Action Network's updated fantasy football rankings for Week 14, powered by Sean Koerner and Chris Raybon.
Brock Purdy Fantasy Football Start or Sit?
Purdy has the luxury of being surrounded by offensive skill position players galore, like Christian McCaffrey, George Kittle, Deebo Samuel and Brandon Aiyuk, and with Kyle Shanahan calling the plays, there is reason to be optimistic.
Still, it would be hard to plug in Purdy right away as your fantasy football starter in Week 14 unless you're in a very deep league or one that starts two quarterbacks.
For this reason, Purdue checks in as our QB21 for NFL Week 14.
In addition, here are the Action Network's top 24 fantasy football quarterbacks this week.
