The Kansas City Chiefs will be missing their top running back as they vow for the No. 1 seed and a first-round bye in the AFC.
Clyde Edwards-Helaire has been ruled out and will not travel for Sunday's game against the Cincinnati Bengals. He's been dealing with a shoulder injury throughout the week and was previously listed as questionable.
Fantasy Outlook with Edwards-Helaire OUT vs. Bengals
Darrel Williams will take over as the lead back for the Chiefs. Williams ran for 55 yards on 11 carries this past week against Pittsburgh after Edwards-Helaire went out with the injury. This season, Williams has totaled 453 yards on 123 carries (3.74 yards per carry)
"Williams is a mid-to-low-end RB2 with RB1 upside," Action Network's senior NFL writer and fantasy expert said. "As we've seen with Edwards-Helaire, being the Chiefs lead back comes with a degree of unpredictability as far as role. We've seen Williams be a 20-touch workhorse at times with Edwards-Helaire out, but we've also seen him form more of a committee with Derrick Gore and Jerick McKinnon."
Williams moved up to the No. 17 running back on Action Network's Weekly Player Rankings.
The Chiefs activated McKinnon from injured reserve in a corresponding move. He had been dealing with a hamstring injury but has no official designation for the game Sunday, so he is fully expected to play.
Derrick Gore will also likely receive some carries as well. Gore moved up to RB35 on this week's power rankings. Whether they go by committee or primarily lean on Williams remains to be seen.
