Welcome to my waiver wire breakdown ahead of Week 10.
This breakdown is not a “one size fits all” kind of thing. Every league is different, and I don’t know the situation you’re in. I can’t tell you how much you should bid on any given player.
If you’re 7-2 and stacked at running back, you don’t need to spend big on a player who might only be relevant for a few games. If you're 3-6 and fighting for your life, go get him!
The point of this breakdown and my analysis is to give you the tools to make the best decision possible. I’ll provide as much detail as I can and encourage everyone to subscribe to my weekly rankings and check those on Wednesday night.
Most importantly, use my initial ranks for the week to see where I have everyone ranked. It’s 100% the best way to see how I view their short term value.
Here's a link to my fantasy rankings. If you have a question for Week 10, that's the best place to go.
RB Keaton Mitchell
Mitchell is a bit of a gamble, similar to Jaleel McLaughlin earlier this season. McLaughlin was a popular add back in Week 5 but has been cut in many leagues already.
Mitchell has a ton of upside and flashed it in a massive 9/138/1 rushing line. He did eat into Gus Edwards workload after he got hot, and Justice Hill mainly saw work in garbage time.
There is a very real chance Mitchell could be the Ravens’ lead back as soon as Week 10 or at some point moving forward without needing an injury to either Edwards or Hill. There’s also a chance this turns into more of a murky/frustrating 3-way committee
This makes Mitchell very appealing but coming off such a massive game will require a fairly decent bid in order to obtain him. Whether you pull the trigger depends on your RB depth and how desperate you are to land a potential RB2 rest of season.
WR Tank Dell
If for some reason Tank Dell is still available in your league, you need to move heaven and Earth to get him.
Normally, I reserve massive FAAB bids or No. 1 waivers on RBs, but Dell is the exception. He’s my WR9 to open up Week 10. It’s not often you have a potential matchup-based WR1 available like that.
WR Noah Brown?
I’d hold off on him with Robert Woods potentially returning this week. I’m not a fan of adding a guy just because he had a big game. Stroud isn’t going to throw 470 yards most weeks (maybe some), so we can’t get too excited about Brown as some potential every week WR3+ option.
Brown will have decent games going forward, but it’s hard to imagine trusting him in starting lineups outside of deeper leagues where you need to tap into the WR4/5 range.
WR Demario Douglas
If Demario Douglas is available, he would be my No. 1 WR add this week, assuming Tank Dell or other WRs ranked inside my top 30 aren’t available in your league.
Douglas is the new No. 1 WR for the Patriots and considering Kendrick Bourne is out for the season, it means Douglas will likely be the No. 1 WR for the rest of the season He’s more of a high-floor WR3/Flex option in PPR formats and opens the week as my WR30.
