Streaming quarterback, kicker and defense has been a strategy I've used successfully for years.
I've parlayed that success into a series of weekly recommendations of the top streaming options at those three positions as well as tight end — a position I don't recommend streaming week-to-week, though still offer recommendations for fantasy players who may need a short-term rental.
Here are this season's results through Week 14:
- Defense: DEF1
- Quarterback: QB13
- Kicker: K6
- Tight end: TE15
Now without further ado, let's go streaming!
Note: Availability in Yahoo Fantasy leagues and Koerner's rankings as of Saturday night.
Eagles QB Jalen Hurts
- Rank: QB6 [Go To My Full Rankings]
- Available in: 64% of leagues
- Matchup: at Cardinals
I'm happy with my decision to add Hurts as a potential Week 15/16 streamer last week but to use Philip Rivers in Week 14.
Hurts led the Eagles to a 24-21 victory over the Saints, which earned him enough job security to trust him this week against the Cardinals. He offers low-end QB1 value considering he rushed 18 times for 106 yards in his first start. I expect his rushing numbers to come down to Earth this week, but we should also see his passing stats increase.
He's the type of dual-threat quarterback I love to take a flier on — he could even end up being a league winner with the Cardinals and Cowboys up next.
Hurts is worth all of your Free Agent Acquisition Budget or No. 1 waiver priority in a must-win situation.
Vikings Defense
- Rank: DEF11 [Go To My Full Rankings]
- Available in: 54% of leagues
- Matchup: vs. Bears
Update: After recommending the Patriots as a placeholder, the Vikings have emerged as the better flier.
It's a tricky week for defenses — there isn't a play that sticks out as much as Dallas did in Week 15.
We can't pick on the Bengals because they face the Steelers, who are 99% owned. And Washington could be a sneaky play against Seattle because the Football Team has serious potential for four or more sacks. However, we can't expect much else against turnover-averse Russell Wilson.
Taking a flier on the Vikings, who face Mitch Trubisky, is our best bet this week. Sunday could feature a more pass-heavy game script for Trubisky, which increases the potential for sacks and turnovers.
Buccaneers K Ryan Succop
- Rank: K3 [Go To My Full Rankings]
- Available in: 83% of leagues
- Matchup: at Falcons
Update: Once Succop was placed on the Bucs' reserve/COVID-19 list, I named Rams kicker Matt Gay as my streaming pick. But with Succop activated and set to play, he is once again my top choice at kicker, though Gay is still a great option.
The Bucs have one of the higher team totals of Week 15, so Succop should have plenty of scoring chances on Sunday. He plays in a dome, so we don't have to worry about any December weather.
Bears TE Cole Kmet
- Rank: TE16 [Go To My Full Rankings]
- Available in: 89% of leagues
- Matchup: at Vikings
Update: Kmet as leapfrogged Jordan Reed as my tight end pick this week.
I already liked Kmet as a fringe TE1/2, but Jimmy Graham appears to be a true game-time decision. If Graham is ruled out, Kmet could be a low-end TE1.
