Welcome to my waiver wire breakdown ahead of Week 14.
This breakdown is not a “one size fits all” kind of thing. Every league is different, and I don’t know the situation you’re in. I can’t tell you how much you should bid on any given player.
If you’re 9-4 and stacked at running back, you don’t need to spend big on a player who might only be relevant for a few games. If you're 6-7 and fighting for your life, go get him!
The point of this breakdown and my analysis is to give you the tools to make the best decision possible. I’ll provide as much detail as I can and encourage everyone to subscribe to my weekly rankings and check those on Wednesday night.
Most importantly, use my rankings for the week to see where I have everyone ranked. It’s 100% the best way to see how I view their short-term value. This is especially important now that we're in the home stretch of the season. If you're looking for players to help you in the first rounds of the playoffs — or to get there — consult my rankings.
RB Tyjae Spears
Spears should already be owned in most formats, but the news that Derrick Henry was checked for a concussion could mean he potentially misses this week. Mike Vrabel said that he isn’t in the protocol so I’m guessing he will be fine.
Either way, Spears has low-end RB2 upside if Henry misses any time and could offer sneaky RB3/Flex value in PPR formats in what could be a pass-heavy game script at Miami.
RB Ezekiel Elliott
He’s a must-add since Rhamondre Stevenson might miss the short week and potentially longer. He should see a big enough workload to offer RB2/3 value.
WR Noah Brown
Brown is a must-add following Tank Dell’s season-ending injury. He has a tougher matchup this week against the Jets, but he should be a WR2/3 option going forward as the likely No. 2 WR for the Texans.
TE Brevin Jordan
Jordan stepped up in Dalton Schultz's place. He could be a potential streaming option this week if Schultz misses again and with Dell out.
