Tennessee Titans starting quarterback Ryan Tannehill will not play in Sunday's game against the Houston Texans, paving the way for rookie Malik Willis to make his first career NFL start.
Willis, Tennessee's third-round pick in the 2022 NFL Draft, could be the team's future at quarterback, but the key question for fantasy football managers is whether or not the rookie has enough upside to warrant a start in Week 8.
With this in mind, we leveraged the Action Network's updated fantasy football rankings for Week 8 to determine where Willis slots among quarterbacks for this weekend's slate.
Malik Willis Fantasy Football Start or Sit?
Willis has plenty of fantasy football upside, especially due to his rushing ability.
In two years at Liberty, Willis rushed for more than 1,800 yards and 27 touchdowns, and that's not to suggest that he can't get it done through the air, either.
Over those two seasons, he also connected on 47 passing touchdowns, so the skill set is certainly there to be a productive fantasy football player.
Interestingly, the Action Network's experts appear to be in wait-and-see mode with Willis in Week 8.
The Titans quarterback checks in as QB23 in our rankings, though our experts don't appear to be on the same page.
Sean Koerner has Willis down at QB27 in his personal quarterback ranks, while Chris Raybon is much more bullish at QB17.
It's very likely that you have a more reliable option at quarterback in Week 8, but if you're in a deeper league or think you need a Hail Mary option with plenty of upside, then Willis is certainly worth a look.
