Cowboys star wide receiver Amari Cooper reportedly tested positive for COVID-19 and was placed on their COVID/reserve list, which means he'll miss this Sunday's game against the Chiefs. But what does his absence mean for the fantasy football outlook of his teammates?
Our expert weighs in on how Cooper's status impacts expectations for wide receiver Michael Gallup and Dalton Schultz below.
Start Michael Gallup In Fantasy?
Michael Gallup was able to return from the ankle injury he suffered back in Week 1, posting a modest three catches for 42 scoreless yards with a 57% routes run rate against the Falcons last week. I expect him to be capable of a full-time role this week, and he will be quarterback Dak Prescott’s No. 2 or 3 target with Cooper ruled out due to COVID.
As a result, Gallup should be treated as a high-end WR3 in what should be a shootout against the Chiefs.
My colleague and co-ranker here at The Action Network, Chris Raybon, also projects Gallup as a WR3 in this high-powered Cowboys offense.
Verdict: Start Michael Gallup as a high-end WR3
Start Dalton Schultz In Fantasy?
Dalton Schultz has cooled off over the past few games, posting the TE30 score from Weeks 8-10. However, I expect him to bounce back as a mid-range TE1 with Amari Cooper ruled out and a potential shootout on tap against the Chiefs.
Verdict: Start Dalton Schultz as a mid-range TE1
