"Streaming" quarterbacks, defenses and kickers has been a fantasy football strategy I've successfully used for years. I've parlayed that success into weekly recommendations for those three positions as well as tight end — a position I don't recommend streaming week-to-week, though still offer recommendations for fantasy players who may need a short-term rental.
Note that these players are rostered in fewer than 50% of Yahoo! leagues as of writing on Tuesday, but that these recommendations do not mean that they are the best streamer play for your league — be sure to check my up-to-the-minute rankings to see who the best available player is in your league.
Texans QB Tyrod Taylor vs. NYJ (6%)
Taylor opens the week as a low-end QB1 in my initial projections. He faces a Jets defense that ranks dead last in Football Outsiders' DVOA (32nd), and with the Texans' run game struggling, I expect them to lean on Taylor's arm/legs in this matchup.
Bears Defense at DET (23%)
Assuming Tim Boyle gets another start, the Bears open up the week as my top-ranked defense.
I discussed at length why it's a mystery he was ever able to start an NFL game. He had a 1:13 TD:INT ratio in three years of Division I college football, then posted an 11:13 ratio as a senior in Division II. He failed to impress in limited preseason action as well.
After a dreadful 77-yard, zero-touchdown, two-interception performance last week, he may get a second start if Jared Goff cannot suit up. Even if Goff can play, the Bears defense will likely be ranked inside my top five. Be sure to check my updated rankings later in the week once we know more.
Bengals K Evan McPherson vs. PIT (7%)
Hopefully, you were able to add McPherson last week as my top streaming option at kicker. After posting the top kicker score of Week 10 — thanks to three field goals of 50+ yards — McPherson may require a small FAAB bid to lock up this week. He is in another good spot as the Bengals have the third-highest team total this week (essentially a tie among 4-5 teams).
Jaguars TE Dan Arnold vs. ATL (41%)
Arnold finally cooled off with a zero-catch performance in Week 11. He should bounce back against a Falcons defense that ranks 30th in DVOA against the pass. Jamal Agnew suffered a season-ending injury that should funnel even more targets Arnold's way.
