  • Who are the top fantasy football streaming options for Week 9 of the 2021 NFL season?
  • Find out why our expert recommends adding Saints QB Taysom Hill, the Saints defense, Dolphins kicker Jason Sanders and Jags TE Dan Arnold if you're in need of a one-week rental at any of those positions.

"Streaming" quarterbacks, defenses and kickers has been a fantasy football strategy I've successfully used for years. I've parlayed that success into weekly recommendations for those three positions as well as tight end — a position I don't recommend streaming week-to-week, though still offer recommendations for fantasy players who may need a short-term rental.

Note that these players are rostered in fewer than 50% of Yahoo! leagues as of writing on Tuesday, but that these recommendations do not mean that they are the best streamer play for your league — be sure to check my up-to-the-minute rankings to see who the best available player is in your league.

Saints QB Taysom Hill vs. ATL (3%)

Hill is worth a speculative add after Jameis Winston's season-ending injury. However, we are still unsure if Sean Payton will go with Trevor Siemian or Hill as the team's starter going forward. Hill's rushing upside gives him low-end QB1 upside, and he could become a long-term solution at QB if you are still streaming every week.

If you are looking for a one-week rental because Tom Brady is on a bye or are unwilling to bid 10%+ of your FAAB to acquire Hill, you can try to snag Tua Tagovailoa (36% rostered), who has a great matchup this week against the Texans. Check my up-to-the-minute rankings here to see who the highest-ranked available QB is in your league before making a final Week 9 streamer decision.

Saints Defense vs. ATL (47%)

The Saints are the top streaming option for D/ST this week. They recently got DE Marcus Davenport back from IR and just sacked Tom Brady three times while picking him off twice.

It's a rough week for streaming a defense, so if the Saints aren't available, I would wait until later in the week to add the highest-ranked D/ST in my weekly rankings here.

Dolphins K Jason Sanders vs. HOU (24%)

The Dolphins should be able to set up Sanders with plenty of scoring opportunities this week against the Texans. He's struggled this year, only making 8-of-12 (66.7%) of his field goals. However, I'm not too worried about him as he's an 84.2% kicker in his four-year career. I expect him to make field goals closer to his 84% career rate from now on.

Jaguars TE Dan Arnold vs. BUF (5%)

I have been banging the table for Arnold the past couple of weeks given his underlying usage. So it was no surprise to see him go off for 8/68/0 following Jacksonville's Week 7 bye. However, we must remember that he is still adapting to his new team and will become more involved as he becomes more familiar with the playbook and builds chemistry with Trevor Lawrence.

Pat Freiermuth will rank ahead of Arnold if Eric Ebron is held out again this week. If you'd like to, feel free to roll the dice on him early in the week if you can roster him for free or close to it. Both TEs have similar rest-of-season upside and make excellent streaming options this week.
