Actor Jeremy Renner’s most recent role won’t put him on the big screen, but it may be one of his most important ones to date.

Renner, famous for playing Hawkeye in the Marvel movies and starring in "The Mayor of Kingstown," hosted a celebrity poker tournament that benefited underprivileged kids in northern Nevada.

The “Heroes Fore Kids Celebrity Poker Showdown” took place in the new poker room at the Venetian. Players paid $300 to join, and there was a $20,000 prize guarantee.

Renner’s speech to kick off the event was posted on the Poker News X account.

The poker tournament was part of a charity weekend that also included golf (hence the word “Fore” in the naming of the event) and concerts. The money raised went to the RennerVation Foundation, a charity Renner started in 2023 to help kids in need.

Renner Still Recovering From Snow Plow Accident

Not long ago, Renner needed help himself.

In January 2023, a Sno-Cat, a large snow plow weighing over 14,000 pounds, ran over Renner, causing blunt chest trauma and orthopedic injuries.

During a recent interview on the "Smartless" podcast, Renner admitted that he lacks the energy to take on more demanding roles as he continues to recover.

Variety reports that Renner is preparing to star in his first movie since the incident. He will play a character in Rian Johnson’s whodunit “Wake Up Dead Man: A Knives Out Mystery,” with the likes of Daniel Craig and Glenn Close.

Stars Come Out For Charity Poker Tournament, Golf, and Concert

Renner wasn’t the only star rubbing elbows with the players at his poker tournament. Actor Richard Kind, who’s in the current season of “Only Murders in the Building” was also on hand.
