We now know when Caesars Virginia will officially swing open its doors in Danville.

The grand opening will be held on Thursday, December 12, 2024, with the resort welcoming its first guests starting at noon.

The new permanent casino will take over for the temporary Danville Casino, which has been around since May 2023.

“Our property started out with just over 400 Team Members when the temporary facility opened last year,” said Chris Albrecht, Senior Vice President and General Manager of Caesars Virginia. “We are on track to hire more than 1,200 by the time we open our doors in December,” he added.

Since its launch, the temporary facility has contributed over $66 million in gaming taxes to the City of Danville and the Commonwealth.

Danville is part of a growing list of Virginia cities who either have, or are in the process of getting a casino. Bristol, Portsmouth, and Norfolk already have casinos in the works, while voters in Petersburg just overwhelmingly approved a plan to build a casino there.
