The Connecticut Lottery Corp just opened the 11th retail sportsbook in the state

The new Fanatics Sportsbook is at Sportech's Winners in Norwalk. It offers betting windows, eight self-service kiosks, and will take bets on all major sports.

CLC announced the opening on its X account.

The Norwalk location now joins 10 other retail sportsbooks in the state, including:

  • Hartford's XL Center
  • Bridgeport's Total Mortgage Arena
  • Bobby V’s in Stamford and Windsor Locks
  • Murphy's Pub & Sports Bar in Manchester
  • New Haven’s Sports Haven
  • Winners venues in Hartford, Milford, New Britain, and Waterbury

In addition to placing bets at the retail locations, Connecticut sports fans can makes wagers on the Fanatics Sportsbook app.

Fanatics Named Connecticut Operator Last Year

Fanatics Sportsbook, headquartered in Jacksonville, Florida, took over as Florida's primary bookmaker in December 2023. This followed the exit of Rush Street Interactive from Chicago, which left the market in March 2023 due to insufficient profits.

Efforts to expand retail sports betting in the state have encountered obstacles. The Fanatics Sportsbook at the XL Center launched in September 2023 but experienced a challenging inaugural year.

According to the Connecticut Capital Region Development Authority, the venue ended its fiscal year with a $500,000 deficit, which they attribute partly to the change in vendors.

Sunday Betting Will Be Allowed

Perhaps to combat the losses, the Norwalk Common Council approved (in September) betting at this site on Sundays.

Normally, state law bans Sunday betting unless a municipality gives approval.

Online Casino Gambling Also Legal in Connecticut

Since Connecticut legalized online casino gambling in 2021, only two prominent platforms have surfaced: Mohegan Sun Casino (operated by FanDuel) and DraftKings Casino. While SugarHouse is also available, it is currently limited to online sports betting and does not yet provide casino games for Connecticut residents.

Today, Connecticut residents can enjoy their favorite online casino games on these platforms using any internet-connected device, such as a smartphone, tablet, laptop, or desktop computer, as long as they are at least 21 years old.

These fully licensed and regulated online casinos have made gaming more accessible than ever before.
