North Carolina is preparing to launch legalized online sports betting, and sportsbooks are preparing for the launch as well.
North Carolina's sports betting market is expected to go live over the next six months. For sportsbooks to gain mobile access in the state, they are required to partner with professional sports leagues, franchises or venues.
On Friday, DraftKings announced a partnership with NASCAR.
“DraftKings and NASCAR have collaborated closely with each other over the years, sharing a likeminded commitment to enhancing the fan experience,” Matt Kalish, president of DraftKings North America, said in a statement Friday. “We look forward to the next chapter in our journey together and offering our leading mobile sportsbook to fans in the state of North Carolina.”

DraftKings is not the only sportsbook that has created a partnership. BetMGM also announced Friday that it has agreed to a partnership with Charlotte Motor Speedway.
“We have been eagerly awaiting legal, safe, regulated online sports betting in North Carolina, a state with more than 10 million people and one of the most vibrant sports environments in the country,” BetMGM CEO Adam Greenblatt said in a press release. “BetMGM’s partnership with Charlotte Motor Speedway meets a great demand for entertainment from North Carolinians. Together we will deliver a premier and responsible gaming product that benefits many state agencies.”
It appears all of the big players in the sports betting industry will want a piece of the North Carolina action. ESPN Bet partnered with Quail Hollow Golf Club, the hosts of the annual PGA Tour tournament in Charlotte, Fanatics Sportsbook partnered with the Carolina Hurricanes, bet365 partnered with the Charlotte Hornets and FanDuel has a partnership with the PGA Tour.
