Miki Sudo has set a world record for the women's hot dog eating contest with 51 hot dogs and buns on Thursday afternoon.
Sudo is now a 10-time winner of the event and is the first woman to ever surpass 50 hot dogs in the 10 minutes allotted for the competition. Her former personal best was 48 hot dogs and buns.

In second place came Mayoi Ebihara from Japan, but even she was no match with a total of 37 hot dogs and buns downed.
Sudo has won every competition that she has taken part in, which includes every contest since 2014. A notable exception was in 2021, when bowed out due to pregnancy. She came back in 2022 to destroy 40 hot dogs and buns to regain the Nathan's Hot Dog Eating contest crown.
And last year, she won it all by putting up 39.5 hot dogs and buns. But nothing compares to the 51, record-setting mark she put up on Thursday afternoon.
Sudo had been the exorbitant, -1100 favorite to win this competition for the tenth time. That indicates a $1,100 wager was necessary to win $100.
Ebihara clocked in at +600 odds. Beyond that, no competitor cracked the +2000 threshold.
