Game 4 is set to get underway in the second round of the 2022 Stanley Cup Playoffs for two different matchups on the Tuesday card. Despite the small slate, there are still some great player props to attack.
Below are my five best PrizePicks props for the slate. For those unfamiliar with PrizePicks flex plays, correctly predicting 5-of-5 props registers a 10x payout, 4-of-5 registers a 2x payout and 3-of-5 registers a 0.4x payout.
You can also take these plays and do smaller parlays with just two or three props for lower payouts.
What is PrizePicks? A daily fantasy operator — meaning they’re available in more states (31) than sports betting is! — PrizePicks offers a unique opportunity for action on player props in which you parlay two or more plays together.
NHL PrizePicks Player Props
Igor Shesterkin Under 2.5 Goals Allowed
Hurricanes at Rangers, 7 p.m. ET
The New York Rangers look to even the series on home ice, as they host the Carolina Hurricanes following Sunday's 3-1 victory. New York is a completely different team when playing at Madison Square Garden in these playoffs, going 4-1 overall and have held opponents to an average of just 2.6 goals scored per game.
Over those five games, Shesterkin boasts an incredible 0.946 save percentage. On the flip side, the Hurricanes have struggled mightily when playing away from PNC Arena this postseason, with a winless 0-4 mark and have averaged just 1.75 goals scored per game.
I would not play this total at anything lower than 2.5.
Teuvo Teravainen Under 0.5 Points
Hurricanes at Rangers, 7 p.m. ET
In a play that has a good correlation with the Shesterkin under, I am fading Teuvo Teravainen. As I mentioned, the Hurricanes are 0-4 on the road and Teuvo has failed to register a point in any of those four contests.
I think we are getting great value in this number as Teuvo is a completely different player on home ice. He has produced nine points over six games at PNC Arena. With the polar opposite reigning true when Teuvo plays on the road, I am fading him in this contest.
Sebastian Aho Fantasy Score Under 9.5
Hurricanes at Rangers, 7 p.m. ET
The other Carolina skater I am fading in this contest is Teravainen's linemate, Sebastian Aho. In an ideal world, Shesterkin and the Rangers will shut down this line completely and we can grab three of these props in one swing.
Like Teuvo, Aho has disappeared when playing on the road, failing to generate a single point when playing away from PNC Arena. Aho and Teravainen both failed to even crack the top-seven for individual expected goals on Carolina in their Sunday’s 3-1 loss to New York.
I would not play this number at anything lower than 9.5.
Johnny Gaudreau Over 3.5 Shots on Goal
Flames at Oilers, 9:30 p.m. ET
The Calgary Flames look to even their series following a 4-1 loss to the Edmonton Oilers on Sunday. Not only did Gaudreau go over this total in that game, but he has reached at least four shots on goal in five consecutive outings and seven of his last eight games.
I believe we are still getting a low number on Gaudreau just because four shots on goal is a relatively high total for any skater. However, Gaudreau has proven the total is too low for him. As part of the star-studded first line, I expect coach Darryl Sutter to rely heavily on Gaudreau/Lindholm/Tkachuk, as the Flames will desperately look to avoid going down 3-1 in the series.
I would not play this total It jumps up to 4.
Mike Smith Over 32.5 Saves
Flames at Oilers, 9:30 p.m. ET
In a play that has a good correlation with the Gaudreau prop, I am backing the Edmonton goaltender to go over this total. I expect Calgary to pepper shots on net all game against Edmonton, which is good for both of these player props to go over the total.
Smith has gone over this number in four of his last seven playoff games that he has finished and came just one shot shy in Sunday's contest. We should see some more urgency for Calgary in this game than we did on Sunday which should be enough to push Smith over this total.
I would not play this number at anything higher than 32.5.
