The PGA TOUR is back.
Nearly three months to the day of putting the 2019-20 season on pause, the TOUR will resume the campaign with the 2020 Charles Schwab Challenge at Colonial Country Club in Forth Worth, Texas. It should be a unique tournament, considering that we haven't seen most of the players in the field play a competitive round of golf in 90 days. That should lead to some wacky results and will change the way bettors will approach this weekend's tournament.
It's already hard enough to pick a golf winner in normal circumstances but throw in the fact that most of the field will be trying to shake off three month's worth of rust and we're talking about a perfect storm for chaos.
In other words, don't be surprised if we see a longshot winner at a course that has produced its fair share of big prices in the past.
Rory McIlroy is the clear betting favorite, topping the board at +700 ($10 bet would win $70). The Northern Irishman is the only golfer listed with single-digit odds.

McIlroy is one of a select few players, along with Dustin Johnson (+2500), Rickie Fowler (+2900), Matthew Wolff (+10000) and Phil Mickelson (+10000) that have played a televised round of golf in the past three months. It was only 18 holes, but in these unique times, that's more than we can say for most of the field.
Other players, like Joel Dahmen (+6500), have stayed sharp by playing on lower-level tours like the Arizona-based Outlaw Tour, which obtained cult-status among golf bettors looking for action during the PGA TOUR's hiatus.
Jon Rahm is currently the second choice at +1200 with Justin Thomas (+1600) and Bryson DeChambeau (+1800) right behind him. Webb Simpson rounds out the top five at +2200.
Kevin Na, the defending champion at Colonial, checks in at +5000 while last year's runner up, Tony Finau, is sitting at +3400 along with youngsters Collin Morikawa and Scottie Scheffler.
Prior to the pause perhaps no golfer in the world was swinging it better than Sungjae Im (+2900). The 22-year-old native Jeju Island, South Korea went into the break with a win at The Honda Classic followed up by a second-place finish at the Arnold Palmer Invitational.
There are a few big names tied with Im at 29-1, including Brooks Koepka, Xander Schauffele and Patrick Reed, another player who was in great form prior to the pandemic.
Seeing some of the big names, like Koepka, Johnson or Justin Rose (+4200), further down the board may be a bit jarring but it gives you an idea just how unpredictable the 2020 Charles Schwab Challenge will be. It's really anybody's guess this week in Fort Worth.
