For the third straight day, we have new names at the top of the leaderboard after the round in Bermuda. Seamus Power and Ben Griffin climbed into the top spot Saturday with 5- and 6-under rounds. They'll carry a two-shot advantage over the rest of the field into Sunday, but there are still eight players within five shots of the lead.
Power is by far the biggest name at the top and he came into the week as the highest-ranked player in this field. He didn't show anything in the way of form last week at the CJ Cup, but has clearly figured things out as he climbed up the leaderboard this week. Power will be seeking his second career TOUR win.
Meanwhile, Griffin will be in unfamiliar territory as he looks to capture his first TOUR win. He has one victory from the Canadian Tour (2018) on his resume, but he's finished inside the top-10 just once in his career on the big tour. It'll be interesting to see how he handles this moment as there is a lot on the line.
My best bet to start the week, Kevin Yu, sits just two shots back in a tie for third. I'll be sticking with him as my pick to win on Sunday, but I'll also see where we may be able to get some more value in the final round.
Best Bets
Kevin Yu (+750 BetMGM)
I admittedly hoped for a little better odds here to help anyone else get on board with me from my +8000 play to start the week. I really like the position Yu is in to have a shot at his first win because he has been one of the most consistent players throughout the first three rounds.
As we have seen others climb and fall from the ranks, Yu has consistently stayed within the top 10 and has posted rounds of 7-under, 5-under and 4-under. Saturday was actually his best day of the week on approach and I love seeing that round-by-round improvement. It looked like Yu was playing his way out of the final group in the third round when he bogeyed 15 and 16, but he bounced back with birdies on each of his final two holes to close the day with momentum. I'm certainly biased at this stage of the proceedings, but I really like his chances Sunday.
Akshay Bhatia Top 20 (+550 FanDuel)
Bhatia was the darling of the week prior to the tournament, mostly because of the long number he had next to his name at most books. He is also a young guy who has a lot of talent and many have been waiting for him to put it together and really put his name in the mix on TOUR.
Bhatia hasn't gotten there yet and it won't happen this week, but he could certainly play his way toward a top-20 result. He started the week struggling to find fairways off the tee, but was still hitting a high percentage of greens in regulation. On Saturday, that flipped as he missed just two fairways, but had his worst day on approach. If he can finally put both aspects of his ball striking together at the same time on Sunday, he can certainly close the two-shot gap between him and the top 20.
We are getting some nice plus money odds on a player who seems to have his game trending in the right direction before the final round.
