Will Zalatoris finally got his long-awaited breakthrough, taking down Sepp Straka in a playoff to win the first FedEx Cup event.

Golf's postseason rolls on this week with the field trimmed to the top 70 as we head to the BMW Championship.

The Course

Wilmington Country Club in Delaware will host its first PGA Tour event this week. We've never really seen it at any point in recent history, so it will be interesting to see how it's set up.

On paper, it measures over 7,500 yards for a par 71, which should set up well for the bombers. Two of the three par 5s can stretch over 625 yards. The greens are bentgrass and on the larger side.

The course was originally designed by Robert Trent Jones, who's also known for Valderrama, Congressional, Bellerive, Baltusrol and Firestone.

The Favorites

Rory McIlroy sits at the top at +1000 despite his missed cut last week. Prior to that, he had been in the top 20 in every start over the past four months, including his win in Canada.

Behind him, we have a large group at around +1400, including Jon Rahm, Xander Schauffele, Zalatoris, Matthew Fitzpatrick, Tony Finau, Scottie Scheffler, Justin Thomas and Patrick Cantlay.

The books pretty much just threw their hands in the air with this pricing.

Zalatoris will obviously catch some eyes with his win last week. Rahm, Finau and Fitzpatrick also performed well, placing fifth. Xander and Cantlay both cooled off from their recent hot form, as they barely made the cut and really didn't do much over the weekend.

To close out this range, we have the +2000s, which include Collin Morikawa, Sungjae Im, Sam Burns and Cameron Young.

Morikawa topped the list last week in fifth, while Im and Burns also had solid starts to their postseasons. But I'll be opening my card here with Young at +2800 on BetMGM.

Young opened as high as +3500 and now dipped down. He'll be popular for a few reasons. His ball striking was great last week, but his putter didn't show up. He's not normally a bad putter, so it's easier to move past a poor showing on the greens.

He's also one of the best drivers on the TOUR, and the large greens at this course could help hide his irons, which can be mediocre at times.

Bet the Cameron Young risk-free up to $1,000.

The Mid-Tier

We'll start this spot out with Viktor Hovland at +3000 on DraftKings. Last week, Hovland returned for the first time since a disappointing final round at The Open to finish in 20th.

It was a good ball striking week for him, but I'm not sure Southwind played to his strengths as much as this course will.

With Viktor, it's always about the short game, and those sticky Bermuda lies around the green can't be fun with his current struggles. So, I'm hoping this will be an upgrade there.

Also, we've seen him play well on large greens. These aren't quite St. Andrew's in size, but hopefully being able to get the putter in his hand more often will play to his benefit. For as troublesome as chipping can be, his putter has been fairly reliable.

I'll also go with Joaquin Niemann at +4000 on BetRivers. Niemann also had a good ball-striking week last week, but his short game was really that good, as he finished 13th.

But a shift to Bentgrass greens could provide the boost he needs. It's been his best surface so far in his young career.

The Longshots

No outrights for me in this range. But if you want to dive down here, it's mostly bombers I'd look at.

Players like Taylor Pendrith, Trey Mullinax, Luke List and Kurt Kitayama have the distance to play well if the other parts of their games show up. But at this point in the playoffs, it's usually time for the stars to shine.

The BMW Card

  • Cameron Young +2800 (1.18 units)
  • Viktor Hovland +3000 (1.1 units)
  • Joaquin Niemann +4000 (.83 units)

Total Stake: 3.11 units
