The short PGA TOUR offseason is almost over with the Sentry Tournament of Champions slated to kick things off on January 6. Betting odds are out for the 39-man field with Jon Rahm unsurprisingly at the top of the board.
Winners from the 2021 season will meet in Hawaii at The Plantation Course at Kapalua. They'll all be chasing Rahm, who opened at +700 to win. He tops Justin Thomas and Patrick Cantlay, who each come in at +1100. Thomas is the only one of the three who have won this event, having done so twice (2017, 2020).
Collin Morikawa, Bryson DeChambeau and Rory McIlroy form a strong trio with the next shortest odds at +1200.
Xander Schauffele, the 2019 winner of this event, is +1400, tied with Cameron Smith and Sam Burns.
The defending champion of the tournament is Harris English, who topped Joaquin Niemann in a playoff last year. English is +3000 while Niemann is not in the field.
Two other former champions are in the field. Jordan Spieth (+2000) won the event in 2016, and Patrick Reed (+3000) won the year before in 2015. Reed also finished runner-up in 2020 while Spieth was second in 2014.
