The PGA TOUR moves to Palm Beach Gardens at PGA National for The Honda Classic this week and the first event of the Florida swing.

As the TOUR moves from coast to coast, most of the top players in the world have the week off, but Sungjae Im headlines the field and opened at PointsBet as the betting favorite at +900 to win outright. Im won his first event on TOUR here at The Honda Classic in 2020 when he finished at -6, holding off Mackenzie Hughes by a stroke. Im is coming off of two top-10 finishes in his last three starts with a T4 at the Farmers Insurance Open and a T6 at the WM Phoenix Open.

The event's defending champion, Sepp Straka, opened with outright odds of +3500 to go back-to-back. Straka came from five shots behind to win last year at -10 by a single shot over Shane Lowry, who opened with the second-shortest outright odds at +1400 this week. Straka finished T45 last week at Riviera in his lone West Coast swing event after also playing at Kapalua, where he finished T21 at the Sentry Tournament of Champions.

Course Preview

PGA National (Champion) is a 7,125-yard par 70 that features Bermudagrass greens — which will be a welcome sight among many TOUR players after playing mainly on the bumpy Poa Annua greens on the West Coast.

PGA National, which was originally designed by Tom Fazio and redesigned by Jack Nicklaus, is known for its challenging Bear Trap on holes 15-17, which features two par-3s and a par-4 with water looming to sink a player's round coming down the stretch.

Past Winners

PGA National has proven to be one of the toughest tests on TOUR year after year, with the winner shooting no lower than 12-under since 2014. Precise iron play has proven to be a differentiator in Palm Beach Gardens with ball strikers like Justin Thomas, Sungjae Im, Adam Scott and Russell Henley all winning here before.
