The PGA Tour heads to Rochester, N.Y., for the 2023 PGA Championship hosted by Oak Hill Country Club East Course.

Justin Thomas, the defending PGA Championship winner, looks to win his third major after winning last year at Southern Hills in a playoff over Will Zalatoris. Thomas, who sits at +2200 at bet365 to win outright, enters with momentum after a strong showing at the Wells Fargo Championship (T14 at -8).

His top challenger is Jon Rahm, who looks to win his third major — and second this year — after winning a green jacket in April. Rahm is the betting co-favorite (+800 at bet365) and has four wins in 11 starts in 2023. He most recently finished solo second at the Mexico Open behind Tony Finau, who is +2500 to win his first major.

Scottie Scheffler is tied with Rahm as of Monday afternoon with the shortest odds to win at Oak Hill at +800. The Dallas native enters with 12 consecutive top-12 finishes in PGA Tour events after another strong showing this past weekend at the AT&T Byron Nelson.

Rory McIlroy enters in search of his fifth major championship and third PGA Championship. The former PGA Champion (2012, 2014) has the third-shortest odds to win in Rochester at +1200. McIlroy is looking for his first win in 2023, but he does have a win this season on the PGA Tour at THE CJ CUP in South Carolina in October.

Brooks Koepka, Xander Schauffele and Patrick Cantlay all have the fourth-shortest odds to win at Oak Hill at +1800. Koepka, a two-time PGA Championship winner and a four-time major winner, finished in a tie for second at the Masters and has a win at LIV Orlando from early April.

Schauffele last appeared at the Wells Fargo Championship at Quail Hollow Club, where he finished in solo second at -15. Schauffele has finished in the top 10 in each of his last five starts. Cantlay will play his second tournament with Joe LaCava on the bag after finishing T21 at Quail Hollow in their debut.

Along with Thomas, Tony Finau shares the seventh-shortest odds to win at +2200. Finau followed up his win at the Mexico Open with a tie for 23rd at the Wells Fargo Championship.

Dustin Johnson, who tied for 48th at the Masters in August, enters fresh off of a playoff win over Cameron Smith and Branden Grace at LIV Tulsa this past weekend. He has the ninth-shortest odds to win this week at +2500 along with fellow winner this past weekend, Jason Day, who won the AT&T Byron Nelson on the PGA Tour. Day won the 2015 PGA Championship at Whistling Straits and now has 13 career PGA Tour victories.

2021 PGA Championship winner at Kiawah Island, Phil Mickelson, has 175-1 odds to win his seventh major. Lefty shot a final-round 65 at the Masters to finish in a tie for second place behind Rahm.

Collin Morikawa, who hoisted the Wanamaker Trophy at the 2020 PGA Championship at TPC Harding Park, sits at +3000 to win his third major after finishing in a tie for 10th at the Masters. He is looking for his first win this season and is coming off a missed cut at the Wells Fargo Championship.

Jordan Spieth, who needs a PGA Championship win to complete the career Grand Slam, has +3500 odds at bet365. Unfortunately, Spieth is dealing with a wrist injury that forced him to sit out this past weekend's AT&T Byron Nelson. His status for the PGA Championship remains unclear.

Course Preview

The East Course at Oak Hill Country Club is a 7,394-yard par-70 designed by Donald Ross in 1926. It was restored in 2019 by Andrew Green. The course features bentgrass and Poa annua fairways, along with bentgrass greens. The 2019 restoration upgraded the green complexes from a bentgrass and Poa annua surface to pure bentgrass.

Green's restoration upgraded the course to provide a stern test for a modern major championship with new back tees, redesigned angles and contours throughout, plus a new drainage system. Oak Hill now has 78 bunkers, and water comes into play on six holes.

With its fourth PGA Championship this week, Oak Hill will have host the second-most PGA Championships behind only Southern Hills Country Club (five).

Past Winners

Thomas, Mickelson, Morikawa, Koepka, Jason Day, Jimmy Walker and McIlroy are all past champions in the field for this PGA Championship.

Jason Dufner (2013), Shaun Micheel (2003) and Jack Nicklaus (1980) are the past winners at the three previous editions of the PGA Championship at Oak Hill.
