Jon Rahm closed out the first major of the year in dominating fashion, cruising to a four-shot victory over Brooks Koepka at the Masters. Rahm once again took over the top spot in the World Golf Rankings as he and Scottie Scheffler continue to battle for that title by trading big tournament wins seemingly every other week.
Now, we make our RBC Heritage picks.
Both Rahm and Scheffler get a chance to do it again this week since the RBC Heritage has been tabbed as an elevated event this year. The duo tops the RBC Heritage odds board this week as the betting co-favorites.
Most of the big names on TOUR are set to tee it up once again, this time around Harbour Town on Hilton Head Island. The only other time we have seen a field like this was when the tournament was the first to the return to play after the COVID break in 2020. It'll be an intriguing week on a course that sets up more about positioning than power off the tee. It's also a week that can definitely be impacted by winds and weather.
I could cover a bunch of players here in my first look as many different styles will be able to contend and those with a little bit of course history may find a bit of an edge getting around this unique track.

First Look
Matt Fitzpatrick
It was a bit of a quiet top-10 finish for Matt Fitzpatrick at the Masters. He never really contended and seemed to just hover around the top 15 throughout the week.
Still, it was a solid week for the Englishman, who gained more than four strokes on approach and just short of that amount off the tee. It seems like his early season ball-striking issues, which could certainly be attributed to a neck problem, are behind him.
Now, the reigning U.S. Open champion heads into what has historically been one of his best weeks of the year. Fitzpatrick has top-15 finishes in three of his past five appearances at the RBC Heritage, including a T4 in 2021. He'll look to improve on that this week with his game trending up at a course well suited for him.
Fitzpatrick be one of my first looks when odds open on Monday.

Shane Lowry
I think there will be some players coming off of the build up to the Masters who may struggle to get the engines going again on a quick turnaround. Many players do everything they can to peak during majors and will often take multiple weeks off after the tournament. However, with the setup this year, they are getting right back to tournament play.
Shane Lowry doesn't have that concern since he has played at the RBC Heritage following the Masters each of the past four years and posted a top-nine finish in three of those four events, including two T3s.
Lowry started to show some form this week, even as he sputtered to keep the scoring going over the weekend. He still finished a respectable T16 at Augusta National and will make the familiar trek to Hilton Head. He's a player, like Fitzpatrick, who has a game suited for this course, and it shows in his past results.
The good news for us this week is that he will get lost a bit in the odds with so many top players set to tee it up at this elevated event. We should finally get some value on betting the Irishman at Harbour Town.

Matt Kuchar
Matt Kuchar fell short in his chase to qualify for the Masters, but it wasn't due to poor play. He's shown that on the courses where he has played well over his career, he still has the game to play them well.
Kuchar made the weekend at the Dell Match Play and followed it up with a third-place finish at the Valero. He now has the advantage of a week off heading into the RBC Heritage, a course he has won on and also posted a handful of other top-10 finishes, including a T3 last year.
My real concern is if Kuchar has the ability to win in a top-level field like this. Depending on his odds, though, he could be a long-shot buy or just a great top-20 type of play.
