The PGA Tour heads 130 miles down to Hilton Head Island, South Carolina, after the Masters Tournament for the 2023 RBC Heritage at Harbour Town Golf Links.

The event following the Masters typically hasn't had many stars in the field, but this year, the RBC Heritage is a designated event. Consequently, 19 of the top 20 players in the Official World Golf Ranking are in the field as of Monday morning.

The usual suspects are at the top of the board with Scottie Scheffler at +850, Jon Rahm at +900 and Rory McIlroy at +1100. Scheffler, THE PLAYERS champion, led the field in Strokes Gained: Approach at the Masters, but his poor putting kept him out of contention over the weekend.

Rahm won his 11th PGA Tour victory and second major championship at the Masters, which marked his fourth win on Tour already this season. He also overtook Scheffler for the top spot in the OWGR with the win.

McIlroy surprisingly missed the cut last week in his search for the career grand slam. In his last four starts, he has two top-three finishes at the Arnold Palmer Invitational and the WGC-Dell Technologies Match Play, along with two missed cuts at THE PLAYERS and the Masters.

While those three are at the top of the odds board, they don't have much experience at Harbour Town — they have combined for just three starts at the course with no top-30 finishes.

The next player on the board, Patrick Cantlay at +1400 at bet365, has plenty of experience at Hilton Head, however. While he doesn't have a win in this event, he has four top-seven finishes in five starts, including a solo second last year after losing in a playoff.

Collin Morikawa has the fifth-shortest odds to win at open this week at +1800. He has one top-seven finish in three starts at the RBC Heritage and is coming off of a T10 at the Masters.

Finally, defending RBC Heritage winner Jordan Spieth at +2000 is the final player on the board at open with odds of 20-1 or shorter to win the Heritage Plaid jacket. Spieth has four top-12s in six starts at Harbour Town.

Spieth accomplished the rare feat of winning a PGA Tour event here last year despite posting negative Strokes Gained: Putting numbers for the week. He's looking to become the first repeat winner of the RBC Heritage since Boo Weekley went back-to-back in 2007 and 2008.

Course Preview

Harbour Town Golf Links is a 7,121-yard par-71 designed by Pete Dye (with Jack Nicklaus serving as a design consultant) that features Bermudagrass greens. The course is one of the shorter tracks on Tour with tight tree-lined fairways, sharp doglegs and small undulating greens.

This has usually meant that length off the tee hasn't been required to win at Harbour Town, but with the best players in the world here this week, will that trend continue?

Past Winners

Harbour Town has had a rich history of hosting this event since its inception in 1969 when it was called the Heritage Golf Classic and Arnold Palmer won the first tournament at Hilton Head.

Along with Spieth, former champions in the field this week include Webb Simpson, Stewart Cink, Matt Kuchar and Jim Furyk.
