The PGA Tour heads to Cromwell, Connecticut, for the 2023 Travelers Championship, the penultimate designated event of the regular season at TPC River Highlands. The Travelers Championship will feature one of the most competitive fields of the year as many of the top golfers in the world make the cross-country trip from California to Connecticut to compete for a $20 million purse.

Defending 2022 Travelers Championship winner Xander Schauffele has the fourth-shortest odds to win this week at +1300. He has three top-20 finishes in three starts in Cromwell. After tying the U.S. Open scoring record with a 62 last Thursday, Schauffele did not shoot under par in his final three rounds at LACC and eventually finished T10 at -3.

Scottie Scheffler opened at +850 to win at TPC River Highlands before moving to +700 as of Monday at 6 p.m. ET. He enters in extremely strong form after finishing in the top 12 for the 16th consecutive PGA Tour event this past weekend at the U.S. Open, where he finished third. The Texas Longhorn has made two of three cuts at the Travelers Championship with a career-best finish of T13 here last year.

Jon Rahm opened with the second-shortest odds to win this week in Connecticut at +850, but those odds have lengthened to +1150 as of Monday evening. Rahm has played in the Travelers Championship three times and made all three cuts, but he has yet to finish better than 25th at TPC River Highlands.

Rory McIlroy began at +1100 to win this week after finishing in second place at the U.S. Open. McIlroy has played the Travelers Championship four times and finished between 11th and 19th each time. His odds have also lengthened to +1250 to win as of Monday evening.

Patrick Cantlay also is tied at bet365 for the fourth-shortest odds to win in Connecticut at +1300. Cantlay has five consecutive top-15 finishes at the Travelers Championship and is coming off of a T14 at the U.S. Open.

Viktor Hovland at +1900 is the final player on bet365’s initial odds board at 20/1 or shorter. The Norwegian has played the Travelers Championship twice, and he finished T54 in 2019 and T11 in 2020. The Oklahoma State Cowboy shot even par and finished 19th at the U.S. Open.

Wyndham Clark, the newest major champion after his victory at Los Angeles Country Club, enters at +4500 to win this week. He has won in two of his last four starts, with victories at the Wells Fargo Championship and the U.S. Open.

Course Preview

After first playing as Middletown Golf Club when it was designed in 1928, Pete Dye redesigned TPC River Highlands in 1982 before another redesign from Bobby Weed in 1989.The course plays at 6,852 yards as a par-70.

TPC River Highlands has hosted the Travelers Championship since 1984, and it features bentgrass fairways and greens, and bluegrass fescue rough.

The course features a unique setup with 12 par-4s, four par-3s and only two par-5s. While Los Angeles Country Club featured six of 10 par-4s at 480 yards or longer last week, TPC River Highlands features just one par-4 over 480 yards (the 481-yard par-4 fourth hole) this week as this is one of the shortest tracks on the PGA Tour.

Past Winners

Schauffele, Harris English, Chez Reavie, Russell Knox and Kevin Streelman are all among past Travelers Championship winners in the field this week.
