2023 Zozo Championship Preview
The PGA Tour heads to Accordia Golf Narashino Country Club in Chiba, Japan for the 2023 Zozo Championship.
This is the fourth of seven FedExCup Fall events after Tom Kim became the second-youngest golfer on the PGA Tour to defend a win as he won the Shriners Children's Open for the second straight year this past weekend. The Zozo Championship has the strongest field of the FedExCup Fall so far with 16 of the top 50 players in the Official World Golf Ranking in this 78-man event.
Kim isn't in the field this week, but Keegan Bradley is, and like Kim just did in Las Vegas, Bradley looks to defend his 2022 ZOZO Championship victory with a win this week. Bradley has won two times on Tour this season as he added a victory at the Travelers Championship, a designated event, in June but was still left off of the Team USA roster for the Ryder Cup in Rome.
This will be Bradley's first start since finishing T9 at the Tour Championship and also his first chance to tee it up on Tour since Team USA's Ryder Cup beatdown at the hands of Europe.
Some of his stiffest competition will come from outright betting favorite Xander Schauffele, who opened with the shortest betting odds at bet365 at +750 and has remained at the same price as of Tuesday afternoon.

The San Diego State product is making his fifth consecutive ZOZO Championship start, with his best prior finish of T9 coming last year. Schauffele last teed it up in stroke play at the Tour Championship, where he finished in solo second behind Viktor Hovland.
Collin Morikawa has the second-shortest outright odds this week at +1200 after opening at +1100. Like his Ryder Cup teammate Schauffele, Morikawa is also competing in his fifth straight ZOZ Championship, with his best finish of T7 back in 2021.
He's also making his first stroke-play start since the Tour Championship where he finished T6 at East Lake. Morikawa is still looking for his first win since the 2021 Open Championship despite remaining elite on approach (ranking second in Strokes Gained: Approach this season on Tour).
Rickie Fowler and Sungjae Im opened in a tie for the third-shortest odds to win the ZOZO Championship at +1400 on bet365. Im has since shortened to +1300 as of Tuesday afternoon while Fowler's odds have drifted to +1700.
Fowler finished in a tie for second here last fall at 14-under as he was just a stroke behind Bradley. Fowler has since picked up a win this season at the Rocket Mortgage Classic, and he will make his first stroke-play start since a T16 at the Tour Championship this week.
Im should enter this event with confidence and relief as he won a gold medal in the Asian Games recently for Team South Korea (along with Si Woo Kim), which means that he has reduced his (and Kim's) mandatory South Korea military service from around two years to just a few weeks. He's looking for his first win on the PGA Tour since a Shriners Children's Open win in October of 2021, and he does have a T3 at Narashino Country Club in 2019.
Other notable in the field include 2021 Zozo Championship winner Hideki Matsuyama (+1700) and Sahith Theegala (+1900), who is making his first start following his first PGA Tour victory at the Fortinet Championship last month in Napa.
Course Preview
Accordia Golf Narashino Country Club measures 7,041 yards as a par-70 with bentgrass greens. The course has only three par-5s but has five par-3s, including three par-3s spanning the third through seventh holes. While there are only three par-5s, they will make the finish entertaining as the par-5s on the back nine come on the 14th and 18th holes.
The ZOZO Championship was held here at Narashino Country Club in 2022, 2021 and 2019 but was held in Thousand Oaks, California at Sherwood Country Club in 2020 due to travel restrictions as a result of the pandemic.
Unfortunately, there is no strokes gained data available for the editions of the Zozo Championship at Narashino Country Club.
Zozo Championship Past Winners
Bradley and Matsuyama are the two past winners in the field for this week's Zozo Championship. All but Cantlay's win came at Narashino Country Club.

2022 | Keegan Bradley | -15 |
