2024 AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am Updated Odds & Preview
The PGA Tour heads to Pebble Beach, California for the 2024 AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am, the second of eight Signature Events on the PGA Tour this season.
The 2024 AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am features a new format with an 80-man field with no cut instead of having a full field with a 54-hole cut after a three-course rotation over the first three days. Golfers will now play one round each at Pebble Beach Golf Links and Spyglass Hill on Thursday and Friday before the pro-am ends, and only PGA Tour golfers will tee it up at Pebble Beach on both Saturday and Sunday.
This is the fifth event of the 2024 PGA Tour season after Matthieu Pavon won his first event on Tour this past weekend at Torrey Pines as he held off Nicolai Hojgaard by one stroke to win the 2024 Farmers Insurance Open.
Pavon is in the field again this week for the 2024 AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am and has outright odds of +10000 as of Wednesday afternoon at bet365. The French PGA Tour rookie has now won twice in his last nine worldwide starts as he also won in October on the DP World Tour at the acciona Open de España by four shots. He now has two top-10 finishes in three starts on Tour this season after finishing T7 at the Sony Open in Hawaii.
Last year's AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am champion, Justin Rose, is in the field this week to defend his title at +8000 odds at bet365. Rose has finished in the top six in three of his five starts as a professional at Pebble Beach as he won this event in 2023, tied for third in 2019 at the U.S. Open and tied for sixth in his AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am debut in 2016.

Rory McIlroy is the outright betting favorite at +825 odds as of Wednesday afternoon at bet365. The Northern Irishman is playing in this event for just the second time after missing the cut in his tournament debut in 2018. McIlroy has also played in two U.S. Opens at Pebble Beach when he finished in a tie for ninth in 2019 and missed the cut back in 2010.
This is McIlroy's first PGA Tour start of the 2024 season, but he has made two starts on the DP World Tour so far in January: a T2 at the Dubai Invitational and a win at the Hero Dubai Desert Classic two weeks ago.
Scottie Scheffler is just behind McIlroy on the odds board this week at +850 to win this week at Pebble Beach. Scheffler is making his tournament debut this week and has only played at Pebble Beach once before as a professional — when he missed the cut at the 2019 U.S. Open.
The Texan is coming off of a T5 at The Sentry and a T17 at The American Express in his first two starts of the season after he gained strokes off the tee, on approach and around the greens for the 15th consecutive PGA Tour event. Unfortunately, Scheffler also lost strokes putting for the 12th time in his last 15 starts as he has failed to win over that span despite finishing in the top 31 in each of those starts (and in the top five 10 times).
Viktor Hovland has the third-shortest outright odds to win this week at +1300. The reigning FedExCup champion is making his second start of the season after finishing in a tie for 22nd at The Sentry to start the year. He is playing in his third AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am after finishing in a tie for 38th in 2020 and tying for 13th here last year. Hovland also tied for 12th at Pebble Beach in the 2019 U.S. Open.
Some other notables in the field this week and their outright odds include Xander Schauffele (+1500), Patrick Cantlay (+1800), Jordan Spieth (+1800), Collin Morikawa (+2400), Max Homa (+1500) and Justin Thomas (+2400).

2024 AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am Course Preview
The 2024 AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am is the third and final event of the 2024 PGA Tour season that will be hosted by multiple courses. The field of 80 golfers will play one round at each Pebble Beach and Spyglass Hill on Thursday and Friday before the final two rounds are held at Pebble Beach.
Monterey Peninsula Country Club was previously used as a third course in the rotation before a 54-hole cut, and because this is a Signature Event, there is no cut this week. Amateurs also will only play in the first two rounds this year as only PGA Tour golfers will tee it up on the weekend.
Pebble Beach Golf Links is a 6,972-yard par-72 designed in 1919 by Jack Neville and Douglas Grant. This is a stark contrast to last week's venue, Torrey Pines (South), which is the longest course on Tour, as Pebble Beach was the third-shortest course on Tour in 2023. Pebble Beach features the smallest average green size on Tour at 3,500 square feet of Poa Annua, while the fairways and rough are made up of a Ryegrass/Poa Annua mix.
Because Pebble Beach has the smallest greens on Tour and an angular layout, there are forced layups on several holes that neutralize distance advantages off the tee. While the PGA Tour average driving distance is around 290 yards, the average driving distance at Pebble Beach is historically under 275 yards.
Spyglass Hill is a 7,041-yard par-72 designed by Robert Trent Jones Sr. in 1966 and renovated in 1999. Like Pebble Beach, Spyglass Hill also has Poa Annua on its greens and has fairways and rough made up of a Perennial Rye/Poa Annua mix. The greens at Spyglass Hill are an average of 5,00 square feet, and the course has more tree-lined holes than Pebble Beach. Almost every hole at Spyglass Hill is named after a notable person or place from the novel "Treasure Island."
With both courses being exposed to the coastline, wind will determine how tough they play this week. Temperatures are expected to be in the upper 40s to lower 50s throughout the weekend as rain and wind around 10 miles per hour (with gusts up to 30 mph) are also expected daily.
Historically, Strokes Gained (SG): Approach and SG: Putting have been the most correlated with SG: Total at the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am, although Strokes Gained data in past years has only been tracked at Pebble Beach, where golfers played two rounds in prior years but will now play three rounds this week.
