Our staff of golf betting analysts has already made some Black Desert Championship picks for this weekend, so let's get right into a tournament preview and some outright picks..
Black Desert Championship Preview
For the first time since 1963, the PGA Tour is returning to Utah. The Black Desert Resort Golf Course will be a nice change of pace for players, although it may not provide much of a challenge.
The course is in the mid-7,000s in terms of total yardage, but it will play closer to 7,000 yards this week. For the second time in two months, altitude will play a big factor on the PGA Tour.
Also, because it’s a resort course, it wouldn’t be shocking if the winning score was 20-under par or more. This track isn’t designed to be a huge challenge, so there will be plenty of birdies and low scores available.
2024 Black Desert Championship Picks & Predictions
Matt Gannon: Ryan Fox +3500 (DraftKings)
Ryan Fox posted an exceptional stat line last week at the Sanderson Farms Championship by gaining more than seven strokes with his ball striking and another four strokes putting. If you told me that heading into the week, I would have tripled my wager on him! Sadly for Fox, he decided to chip like one of us.
Fox is a high-ceiling golfer who loves a birdie fest. Outside of that, he loves to mash the driver. This is a golf course where all of those things will come together. This is a fine number for Fox against this field. He will give you all or nothing and on Thursday afternoon, you'll know if you are getting a sweat on Fox.
Spencer Aguiar: Seamus Power +2800 (FanDuel)
Seamus Power looks to be the cream of the crop for this field. He graded first in my model for Overall Rank, Safety, Upside and Recent Form.
That total was boosted by his first-place rank when combining Expected Driving, Approach and Putting into one category, culminating in Power ranking as one of just five players in this field to grade inside the top 60 of all seven statistical categories I ran this week.
For reference, the other four names were Patrick Fishburn (35-1), Erik Van Rooyen (40-1), Ben Kohles (85-1) and Sami Valimaki (125-1).
A handful of those players will be discussed tomorrow when you tune into "Links + Locks".
