2024 Sanderson Farms Championship Preview: Wide Open Field

Nick Dunlap opens at +2800 and will be a trendy name this week, and rightfully so. Being a two-time PGA Tour winner at 20 years old is an extremely impressive feat, and he will look to make those three this week. Dunlap played his college golf at Alabama so he is extremely used to these southern conditions. He has never played this event before but finished his season on a great note with a strong top five finish at the FedEx St. Jude Championship.

2022 winner Mackenzie Hughes opens as the favorite of this event at +2200. He returns to Jackson and he should feel really confident. Even though it did not go well for him at the Presidents Cup, it should be a massive confidence booster for Hughes. He has multiple wins on Bermuda in his career and looked very solid in his last strokeplay event at the Procore Championship.

Ryan Fox +5000 is a bomber who can make birdies in bunches. He has never played this event in his career but it is a golf course that makes sense on paper. Unlike most golfers who have taken a lot of time off, Fox has played two events over the last two weeks on the DP World Tour. He should not have too much rust to shake off this week.

Jacob Bridgeman +8000 is another young man who played college golf in a southern state. He has shown flashes of brilliance in his short career and posted top-20 finishes in two of his last three starts.

This is as wide open of a PGA Tour event as we will ever see. It is rare to see the sportsbooks open with a number as big as +2200 in front of the favorite to win a golf event. Ben Griffin +2200 can also be found near the top of the odds board. Last year, Griffin had every opportunity to win this event but ended up losing in a big playoff. Griffin is a golfer who really elevates his game on Bermuda surfaces.

The rest of the golfers below 30-1 are Keith Mitchell, Seamus Power, Maverick McNealy, Patrick Rodgers, Patrick Fishburn, JJ Spaun, and Eric Cole.
