Here's everything you need to know about 2024 Sony Open in Hawaii One and Done Picks.
Although the 2024 Sony Open in Hawaii is the second event of the 2024 PGA Tour season, One and Done is just getting started! A majority of leagues choose to skip The Sentry because it is a limited field with no cut. The 2024 Sony Open in Hawaii will be the first full-field event of the new-look PGA Tour.
If you are new to One and Done, the biggest key is going into the year with a plan. You should take the time to map out a golfer or two to throw out at each and every event all season long. Lucky for you, I have already done all the planning.

2024 Sony Open One and Done Picks
Adam Svensson +5000
Going this far down the odds board is usually not the best idea in One and Done leagues, but this is a unique week. The golfers at the top of the odds board have never taken a swing on this golf course, which creates a ton of volatility for the event.
Adam Svensson is coming off a T33 at Kapalua but hit the ball well. His around the green play cost him last week, which is all but meaningless to me because SG: Around the Green is a fairly volatile stat, and he should not have to do much of that on this golf course.
In three trips to Waialae, Svensson has never missed the cut and has hit the ball extremely well. That should not be a surprise as he does his best work at these short, positional golf courses because he is an above-average golfer in terms of driving accuracy, approach play and putting.
Three of his last four top-15 finishes came at The RSM Classic (in addition to a win in November 2022), Wyndham Championship and The Players Championship, and all of those courses require precision off the tee, great wedge play and feature Bermudagrass greens. In three previous starts at the Sony Open in Hawaii, Svensson has made the cut all three times and finished as high as T7 in 2022.
Brian Harman +2000
Brian Harman is in the next tier down from the favorites who have never teed it up here. Although his course history is not great, I cannot think of a better golf course for Brian Harman.
Harman is a lock for a high finish at courses like Sea Island and Harbour Town, which closely resemble Waialae, because when driving distance is neutralized, his elite driving accuracy, scrambling and putting are a big advantage. Pair those elite skillsets with his above-average approach play, and Harman should be suited for success this week.
It is truly shocking that he has not done better here, and it may have something to do with the calendar.
The reason this year is different is because has played some decent golf of late! His last two starts are top-10 finishes (including a T5 at The Sentry in a strong field), and they both came within the month.
While Harman has made the cut here in four of his last five starts at Waialae, he has not finished in the top 30 in any of those appearances. However, he has had success here in the past as he recorded four consecutive top-20 finishes at the Sony Open from 2015-2018.
Ben Griffin +6000
If you really want to get different, run out Ben Griffin in your One and Done pool! Griffin is making his first start since his eighth place finish at The RSM Classic, which is a great comp tournament.
If you're worried about the long break since his last event, take a look at what he did at the 2023 Sanderson Farms Championship. After two months away from PGA Tour golf, Griffin nearly won the Sanderson Farms. He ended up losing in a playoff but was in control the entire event and had a putt to win it on the 72nd hole.
Griffin's best finishes on Tour have come at courses like Sea Island, Jackson CC, Sedgefield CC, Port Royal and Waialae (T12 here last year in his only Sony Open start)! Those are all short courses with Bermuda greens that emphasize driving accuracy over distance, approach play within 200 yards and putting. I know it is early in the year, but don't be scared to get a bit freaky with your Sony Open in Hawaii One and Done selection.
