2024 FedEx St. Jude Championship Odds: Scottie Scheffler Favored Over Xander Schauffele, Rory McIlroy

2024 FedEx St. Jude Championship Odds: Scottie Scheffler Favored Over Xander Schauffele, Rory McIlroy article feature image

The 2024 FedEx Cup Playoffs are here and we know Rory McIlroy is happy! The man who says he cares about majors but is truly a FedEx Cup Playoff Merchant is in solid enough form to win the whole thing yet again. The PGA Tour Season was a ton of fun and very profitable, so we are expecting more of the same.

TPC Southwind is the host of the FedEx St. Jude Championship, yet again, and Scottie Scheffler is once again the odds-on favorite in the betting market. He opens the week at +375, which is too short to bet, in my opinion.

Defending Champ Lucas Glover did not qualify for this event this year, so we will take a look at the odds for the entire field and preview a few names to find some success on this golf course. See below for the latest 2024 St. Jude Championship Odds.

2024 St. Jude Championship Preview: Take a Gander Down the Odds Board

Another great week for Xander Schauffele +800, but it was probably disappointing. He finished the Olympics at T9 which looks like a great result on paper, but he was going for another medal. Schauffele yet again gained strokes in every category which is something he does better than anyone.

While Xander makes sense on every golf course we see, this is one that has kept him in check. In six trips to this event, he has only one top-10 finish and has lost strokes ball striking in four of them. I cannot begin to tell you how much of an outlier that is for Xander. With all this being said, you may want to look for some other names down the odds board.

Collin Morikawa +1400 has played this golf course four times and has finished no worse than a tie for 20th. He has hit the bell extremely well here as he averages 3.7 strokes ball striking around TPC Southwind.

Morikawa is arguably having the best season of anyone who hasn't won and it is only a matter of time before he breaks through. Southwind is known as a "ball strikers paradise," which is exactly what Morikawa is.

I will say that there is no course on the PGA Tour that isn't a ball striker's paradise, and this name probably dates back to when Justin Thomas won here, losing strokes putting, but we have to make a case for our guy!

Ludvig Aberg +2000 is making his first start at TPC Southwind and I am very excited for what he can bring to the table. On paper, Ludvig checks a ton of boxes to succeed on this golf course, as he is long and straight off the tee and can spike on approach in a massive way.

In his last start at the Olympics, Ludvig posted his best approach week of 2024 gaining over six strokes to the field. His lone PGA Tour win came in this general area of the country on these same surfaces. Look for Ludvig to be a part of the story this weekend.

The rest of names listed at 30-to-1 or better are Rory McIlroy +900, Patrick Cantlay +2500, Tommy Fleetwood +2800, and Hideki Matsuyama +3000.
