For golf fans as a whole, we hope that this is the last season of this version of the TOUR Championship. Sure, Collin Morikawa shot a low round in round two and cut Scottie's lead to four but this is truly horrible to watch.
It is the only sport in which "The Championship" is the worst thing to watch of the entire year. Am I saying that we will not get a fun finish? No. But Watching a golf tournament in which four out of 30 players can win is truly a bad product. I wrote this article last year as a switch-up for the current TOUR Championship format, which I firmly believe would make this week so much more fun.
Nonetheless, there is still golf to be played and, more importantly, money to be made. Below, we will take a look at both the leaderboard and the odds board to find some winners to cash in on Sunday evening. Here are the TOUR Championship Round 3 Bets.
Sam Burns Top 5 +135
Bermuda Burns currently sits at seventh after rounds of 67 and 68. Looking closer at his stat line, you would be shocked to see that one of the best Bermuda putters on tour is close to dead last in the field through 36 holes.
He's in a great position in Strokes Gained: Tee-to-Green and is in the top 10 in strokes gained off the tee, approach, and around the green. There aren't many people you can count on to simply "figure it out" around the green but Burns is surely one of them.
Year after year, he is one of the best Bermuda putters on tour and I am sure the putting will rise to the top. Look for Burns to roll some more putts over the weekend and post his best finish in a FedEx cup in his career.
Tommy Fleetwood Top 10 +225
This is a great number for Fleetwood to post a nice result over the weekend and pencil in yet another top ten. Oddly enough, Fleetwood is losing strokes both on approach and around the green. He's a plus player in both of those categories so it's shocking to see him falter there.
He seems very comfortable both on these surfaces and off the tee, which is a great spot to be in. Fleetwood bogeyed his first hole of the event and has posted a clean 6 under run of 35 holes since. Look for him to keep the card clean and squeeze another top-ten in the TOUR Championship.
Russ Henley Top 10 +280
Henley is six-under on the event after a round of 71 on Friday. In true Henley fashion, he's gaining strokes by ball-striking and losing on the putting surfaces. This is usually the case for him, except for when he plays on Bermuda. He has proven to be very comfortable on Bermuda in his career, and especially this season.
Look for Henley to figure out something on the greens over the next two days and keep up the solid ball striking to backdoor a top 10. He is a golfer who is capable of a random 63 in these conditions, and that would surely do the trick to cash this bet.
