Here's everything you need to know about 2024 WM Phoenix Open first-round leader picks — our expert FRL bets for this week's PGA Tour event.
With the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am in the rearview mirror, we now look forward to this week's WM Phoenix Open. The Stadium Course at TPC Scottsdale will once again host this tournament, which it has done annually since 1987.
Designed by Tom Weiskopf, the Stadium Course is a par-71, 7,261-yard track that rewards strong approach players and putters.

2024 WM Phoenix Open First-Round Leader Picks (FRL)
Byeong Hun An +4000 (bet365 | 0.21 Units)
First-Round Tee Time: 2:22 p.m. ET
Byeong Hun An has been one of the best golfers on Tour to begin this season. He has made three straight cuts after finishing fourth at The Sentry, runner-up in a playoff at the Sony Open in Hawaii and T31 at the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am.
His True Strokes Gained metrics are even more impressive because they indicate that he currently does not have a flawed club in the bag. An has gained true strokes in every single category in at least two of those three tournaments.
An was previously known for his strong ball-striking and poor putting, but he is now putting better than ever before and has gained strokes putting in all three events this year.
He has also fared well at TPC Scottsdale, making all five cuts here with two top-10 finishes. His success here should not be that shocking, given that he is currently hitting greens at a 75% clip from the 150-175 yards, and this range features the largest distribution of approach shots at this course (23.6%).
Adam Scott +5500 (bet365 | o.12 Units)
My second FRL selection this week is An's 2019 Presidents Cup teammate Adam Scott.
Adam Scott stayed busy over the offseason on the DP World Tour with three top-seven finishes across three events. This will bode well for Scott, who has also thrived recently with his putter after gaining strokes on the greens in 11 of his last 15 events with data. Scott gained over six strokes putting in his last DP World Tour start two weeks ago, which is elite.
Scott also finished T8 at last year's AT&T Byron Nelson, which was contested at TPC Craig Ranch, another venue designed by Weiskopf.
The reason this number is so long is because Scott only has one career appearance at TPC Scottsdale and finished T38 in 2022. However, now he has four professional rounds under his belt at TPC Scottsdale and enters this week in fantastic form.
At 55-1, it is worth taking a flyer on Scott to lead after the first round. Like An, I also trust Scott more on a Thursday than on a Sunday at this stage of his career as he has not won on the PGA Tour since 2020.
