A one-week hiatus couldn't keep us from watching Scottie Scheffler win. Now, the PGA Tour is back with the Wyndham Championship.
This is the final stop before the FedExCup Playoffs, which start next week. Many players will be looking to qualify in the top 70 for the FedEx St. Jude, so there's a lot more on the line than just your average Tour event.
Five of our betting analysts scoured the odds board immediately on Monday and found their favorite outright picks, ranging from the betting favorite to a 55-1 bet.
2024 Wyndham Championship Picks: Our Experts 5 Outright Bets
Spencer Aguiar: Sungjae Im (+1700, bet365)
Most people will look at this board and throw a few shots in that 30-1 and 60-1 range, grab a handful of long-shot wagers and call it a day. I get that strategy to an extent because I did find a little value to be found throughout various sections of the board. However, I don't know if glossing past Sungjae Im's name without at least some consideration is the optimal route when we look at his combination of the key metrics that I ran this week.
Im ranked first in my model over his past 10 starts in "Weighted Form," posting five top-12 finishes since the Memorial. We also got a "Course History" mark that provided an average finish on the leaderboard of 11th through his last five appearances at Sedgefield and a 'Statistical Total' that saw him in the top 10 of all seven categories I weighed.
I don't believe the narrative of players coming overseas from the Olympics and playing this event is as prominent as some people will tell you in the industry. However, it doesn't hurt that Im will be fresh after not playing since we know that the travel answer has affected him in the past.
It has been three years since his last victory on tour, but don’t be shocked if he finds himself in the winner’s circle come Sunday.
Nick Bretwisch: Harris English (+5500, FanDuel)
In a bit of a watered-down field, I’m going to back someone that my model has closer to the 50-1 range in the outright market.
The ball-striking has been a bit of a mixed bag of late for English, but he has gained strokes off the tee in four straight Tour events (I'm excluding the horrendous conditions we saw at The Open Championship.
If the iron play can find its way back into the bag for English, the off-the-tee confidence at a track he’s extremely comfortable with (one missed cut in the past decade) should put him in a position to putt his way to victory.

Matt Gannon: Si Woo Kim (+2500, FanDuel)
This is an event where the course horses really shine. Golfers like Webb Simpson, Russell Henley and Billy Horschel always play well around Sedgefield Country Club.
Another player who fits in with that group: Si Woo Kim. In eight trips to this event, he has finished inside the top five in half of those starts — and he's won here!
Recently, Kim has been playing really well. The results haven't been on the extremely high end, but the ball striking has been solid all season. There was only one time this season in which Kim lost strokes to the field ball striking.
The Korean always stripes it at Sedgefield and is boom or bust with the putter. If he can find something on the greens, look for Kim to find himself in contention.
Tony Sartori: Davis Thompson (+3500, FanDuel)
Thompson secured his first Tour victory at the John Deere Classic last month, and I think this week sets up a good opportunity for him to achieve win number two.
Thompson has made the weekend in six consecutive tournaments, posting a win and two other top-10 finishes in that stretch. This includes his T9 finish at the U.S. Open, which was contested at Pinehurst No. 2, another Donald Ross design.
Speaking of Ross designs, Thompson finished T2 at this year’s Rocket Mortgage Classic, which is contested at Detroit Golf Club. He clearly thrives on Ross designs, and he's a good target at 35-1 when you factor in his recent form.
Finally, Thompson ranks eighth on Tour this season in greens in regulation percentage (GIR%) from 150-175 yards. I mention this because the largest distribution of approach shots (by a wide margin) at Sedgefield Country Club comes from that 25-yard range.
Greg Waddell: Nicolai Hojgaard (+5000, FanDuel)
It’s only a matter of time for Hojgaard, who splashed onto the international golf scene at the Ryder Cup. While it hasn’t been the straightforward breakout year that many expected this season, the Dane is fresh off arguably the best golf of his young career, tying his brother’s course record of a 9-under 62 at Le Golf National during the Olympics.
This weekend’s field is wide open so if you’re looking for upside, there aren’t many at 50-1 with a higher ceiling than Hojgaard. Let’s back a hot golfer to stay hot and breakthrough for victory.
