Onto the final day (or two) of The Wyndham.
We saw a ton of variance over two days of golf after getting rained out on Thursday. The conditions will remain wet over the weekend, which will yield a ton of birdies like we saw in rounds one and two. The golfers are going to have to keep their foot on the gas as there is a chance they'll have to play more than 18 holes on Sunday.
The birdies will flow so let's take a look at some of the best birdie makers in this field. Stats we will hone in on are driving accuracy and strokes gained approach. Here are the weekend best bets and leaderboard ahead of round three of the Wyndham Championship.
Matt Kuchar -12 | (+400) |
Cam Young -11 | (+400) |
Max Greyserman -11 | (+700) |
Chad Ramey -11 | (+1200) |
Aaron Rai -10 | (+700) |
Billy Horschel -10 | (+600) |
Beau Hossler -10 | (+1400) |
Cam Young To Win +450
If you listened to the content ahead of the week, you heard how high I was on Cam Young in this tournament. Guess what my friends? We are doubling down on the take. It is truly written in the stars.
After everyone has had enough of Young and has lost a ton of money on him for the last few seasons, he is going to get the job done near his old stomping grounds. Young went to College in this area, playing at Wake Forest, which isn't far at all from Sedgefield Country Club.
Although he has yet to make a start at this event, he has plenty of experience playing golf around here. Through 36 holes, Young is gaining strokes in every category. He is without a doubt the most talented golfer in this field; the only thing that stops him is his mentality.
The fact that there are a ton of questions about the weather and not knowing if and when they will play 72 holes will take his mind off of his failures. When Cam is playing mindless and stress-free golf, he is a top-five player in the world and I am sure any PGA Professional would agree with that.
Young is the live favorite in my eyes. He has all the talent in the world to get the job done and he will get his first PGA Tour win this weekend.
Aaron Rai Top-5 +100
Sadly for Young, I don't think Aaron Rai will go away without a fight.
Through 36 holes, Rai is leading the field on approach. That is no surprise — he has been stripping his irons all season long. He had a little blip of poor golf in Scotland but is back to great play here. This golf course suits Rai perfectly. He's a player who hits a ton of fairways and is an elite mid-iron player.
You cant ask for much more of a player around Sedgefield. Look for Rai to continue to hit fairways and greens and grab some plus money on him to finish inside the top 5.
Emiliano Grillo Top-20 +210
Grillo is stripping his this week and is still in contention. He is a golfer who hits the ball so solidly and can get very hot. He is very close to bursting out and posting a round sub-65, in my opinion. I love the fact that he got all 36 holes in and will get to sleep in a tad on Sunday. Grillo is doing well too. It is not often he gains strokes on the putting greens so when he does so, we need to take advantage. This is a disrespectful number on a golfer who knows how to win and is playing exactly how I would want someone to play this golf course.
