This is the best week of the year for hardcore golf fans like myself. It's the first major of the year and most people's favorite. From the tradition, the history, the azaleas, the course, the field, and so much more, this truly is a week unlike any other.
Scottie Scheffler is the betting favorite to win the 2025 Masters at +400 odds at DraftKings. Scheffler is the defending champion, a two-time winner at the Masters, and the world's No. 1-ranked golfer.
Next on the odds board to win the 2025 Masters is Rory McIlroy at +650 odds. He is looking for his first green jacket and career grand slam.
The 2025 Masters are set to tee of on Thursday morning from Augusta National Golf Course in Augusta, Ga. The most prestigious event on the golf calendar will see the best players in the world vie for the coveted green jacket.
I have six bets for you this week for the 2025 Masters — three outright winner bets and three in other markets.
Here are my 2025 Masters picks.
2025 Masters Picks
I usually don't bet Rory McIlroy at the Masters. It's the one major that has eluded him all of these years. It's the only one holding him back from achieving the career grand slam.
While that adds extra pressure on his quest to don the green jacket, something feels different this time around. He seems to be in a better place mentally, all parts of his game are firing on all cylinders, and he's already picked up two huge wins this year (Pebble Beach and The Players).
With apologies to Bryson DeChambeau, for my money, McIlroy is the best driver of the ball in the world. His long irons are elite, his around the green game is in great shape, and he's gained at least two strokes putting in five of his last six events.
It's hard to believe, but Justin Thomas has 15 wins on the PGA Tour and two major titles (both at the PGA Championship).
It's been a while since we've seen him in the winner's circle, but he's had three runner-up finishes in his last nine events.
He's one of the best iron players in the world (+19 strokes on approach in his last five events) and has always been an elite scrambler. He's added speed off the tee, which should certainly help him at Augusta National.
Ultimately, it all comes down to his putter. If he can have a good week with the flatstick, I think he'll be in the mix on Sunday.
I put together a list of Masters trends every year where I sift through all of the trends from winners over the last 10+ years. Only two golfers met all eight of the trends this year — Rory McIlroy and Min Woo Lee.
Lee is one of the longest drivers of the ball on Tour. He's had two top-25 finishes at Augusta National, he's elite around the greens, he's an excellent putter, and he's coming off a win in Houston. He's now won five times worldwide.
You could argue that his game isn't quite ready to win a major, but it's hard to go wrong at this course when you are consistently gaining strokes off the tee, around the green, and putting.
For those worried about his iron play, he has quietly gained at least 2.2 strokes on approach in 3 of his last 6 starts.
Byeong Hun An is one of my favorite DFS values this week, and I'm also adding a top 10 bet on him.
He's essentially Min Woo Lee-lite when you look at his statistics. He's a bomber off the tee and is very good around the greens. He's not as good of a putter as Lee, but he's certainly capable of having a good day on the greens.
Given the driving distance and ability to scramble, I love the fit for Augusta National. He finished T16 here last year and comes into the week fresh off top 20s in two of his last three starts.
All of the LIV attention this week will be on Bryson DeChambeau, Jon Rahm, and Brooks Koepka which means we have the chance to get Sergio Garcia as the top LIV golfer at +1800, which screams value to me.
Garcia is playing his best golf in quite some time, as he's finished in the top 20 in 11 straight events with two wins during that stretch.
His recent results at Augusta National haven't been great, but he already owns a green jacket and has plenty of high-end finishes at this event.
Given his form and course fit, this might be my favorite bet on the board.
- Adam Scott
- Byeong Hun An
- Sergio Garcia
- Keegan Bradley
- Tony Finau
- Min Woo Lee
- Jason Day
I love made cut parlay bets at the Masters. The top 50 and ties make the cut and since there are so many old and amateur golfers in the field, there's really only 80 golfers who can realistically make the cut.
I like the seven golfers above to make the cut at +1239. They all have a good course fit and/or a solid track record at Augusta National.
2025 Masters Course Preview
We all know Augusta National Golf Club at this point, but let's do a quick refresher on why types of golfers tend to play well here. This is a par-72 that measures 7,555 yards. They purposely mow the grass against the grain in order to limit the roll-out of drives off the tee. Many say that the course actually plays closer to 7,800 yards because of this.
When you combine the length of the course with extremely wide fairways and no rough (only a second cut), it's no surprise that bombers have a lot of success at this course.
One of the most unique features of Augusta is that you'll find very few flat lies on the property. Golfers need to know how to hit the ball with uneven lies. While the greens here are large in size, they play a lot smaller than that due to the undulations and run-offs. Golfers will need to be precise with their irons and very good around the green in order to contend this week.
If there's one statistic that I'm willing to sacrifice, it's putting. A strong tee to green game is more important than good putting stats, especially since these greens are different than most.
Course history is more predictive here than at any other venue. You'll hear that experience matters over and over again this week, and it's certainly true. No first-timer has won here since 1979 (Fuzzy Zoeller) and golfers who have played well here in the past tend to play well here moving forward. Whether you are betting or playing DFS, don't forget to bump up the course history weight in your model.
