The Outlook

It was a lot easier to like The Scientist’s chances of contending before this past Thursday afternoon. That’s when the defending champion was forced to withdraw from the John Deere Classic with a shoulder injury. What’s even worse is that it wasn’t a recurring issue or even one that steadily started afflicting him during the opening round. Instead, he hurt the shoulder while taking a swing at TPC Deere Run. Maybe he’ll be able to quickly recover and bring his best stuff to Carnoustie, but a wait-and-see approach is the more recommended strategy.
