Scottie Scheffler still has the lead at the 2022 Masters, but there's reason to believe it's not entirely safe.
Scheffler is 9-under entering Sunday at Augusta National, where he's in search of his fourth win of 2022. He's being chased by the PGA TOUR's other serial winner of the year, though.
Cameron Smith opened 2022 by winning the Sentry Tournament of Champions, then he followed that with a stellar final round to win THE PLAYERS Championship last month. He trails Scheffler by three strokes after posting the low-round of the day at Augusta National, a 4-under 68.
When Smith finished his round, Scheffler was 11-under through 13 holes of his round. The Texan, though, bogeyed both 14 and 15, which put the lead at three strokes. He birdied 17 to put the lead at four, but Scheffler found trouble on 18:
Scottie is in trouble on 18 😬

2. Smith -6 (+150) pic.twitter.com/ksiN11gWJ9— GolfBet (@GolfBet) April 9, 2022
A sensational third shot helped him save bogey, which puts the lead at three shots over Smith entering the final round of the Masters.
The Odds Board
Scheffler was at -290 at one point on Saturday, which is very impressive given the field and venue. He ended the day at -225, still a strong favorite.
Smith, meanwhile, is the only noteworthy challenger. His number was down to +200 before he bogeyed No. 16, and it ended the day at +260.
