Our run of four straight weeks with an outright winner came to a close this weekend. We had a couple shots but missed a Korn Ferry Tour playoff by a shot and had a solo third in Abu Dhabi.
We're back at it again though with eight more events this week. Find my Global Golf Betting Predictions for the following events below:
- Zurich Classic of New Orleans – PGA Tour
- LIV Adelaide – LIV Golf
- LA Championship – LPGA
- ISPS Handa Championship – DP World Tour
- Mitsubishi Electric Classic – PGA Tour Champions
- Veritex Bank Championship – Korn Ferry Tour
- UAE Challenge – Challenge Tour
- South African Women's Open – Ladies European Tour
Zurich Classic of New Orleans – PGA Tour
Best Bet: Nick Taylor & Adam Hadwin +4000 (DraftKings)
The PGA Tour's annual team event provides us with a different look this week.
In recent years, it's been more of the high end teams that have come out on top here.
I'll focus on the two Canadians here in Taylor and Hadwin. They finished as the runners up last year and both have flashed strong form at times this year. Taylor already won in Phoenix, while Hadwin has two top fives in his last five starts. Most books have them in that +2500-3300 range, so DraftKings is being a little generous here on the price.
Other Zurich Classic of New Orleans Bets:
- Billy Horschel & Tyson Alexander +5000
- Taylor Moore & Matt NeSmith +6600
- Pierceson Coody & Parker Coody 180-1
LIV Adelaide – LIV Golf
Best Bet: Abraham Ancer +2700 (FanDuel)
LIV Golf makes the trek to Australia this week.
I'll play Ancer here for a few reasons. He's already got a win this year and was 10th the last time out. He's also got an Australian Open win to his credit back in 2018, so he's shown he can play well on this continent.
It's a short course here, and that should be more to Ancer's liking. We saw last year with a leaderboard of Talor Gooch, Patrick Reed, Anirban Lahiri, Cameron Tringale and Pat Perez that length isn't needed at all.
Other LIV Adelaide Bets:
- Patrick Reed +3100
LA Championship – LPGA
Best Bet: Haeran Ryu +2500 (DraftKings)
The LPGA odds board got thrown for a loop when Nelly Korda withdrew after opening around +300.
We'd expect some major adjustments, but that didn't really happen a whole lot. Ryu is a player I was looking at to begin with, and her number didn't move on DraftKings. She was sixth her last year and has finished in the top 10 in her past two starts.
Now that Nelly's gone, I really like this price.
Other LA Championship Bets:
- Alison Lee +2800
- Yealimi Noh 180-1
- Ryann O'Toole 200-1
- Isabella Fierro 600-1
ISPS Handa Championship – DP World Tour
Best Bet: Ewen Ferguson +4000 (BetRivers)
The DP World Tour is back in action in Japan this week.
Courses here tend to reward the more precise players on the tee and with the irons as opposed to the pure bombers.
This is what leads me to Ferguson here. He's among the best on the tour at hitting fairways and greens. He's won multiple times and had a solid start to his 2024 season as he's been inside the top 25 in six of his last seven starts.
Other ISPS Handa Championship Bets:
- Romain Langasque +6000
- Andy Sullivan +7500
- Sam Bairstow +9000
- Satoshi Kodaira +15000
Mitsubishi Electric Classic – PGA Tour Champions
Best Bet: Thomas Bjorn +2800 (bet365)
The Champions Tour has been a weird place so far this year. Between weather shortages and inconsistency among the stars, we've had some opportunity here.
I'm going with Bjorn, who only has two starts this year but finished second and third. He played a lot in Europe the past few years despite turning 50 in 2021. The results weren't great, but now he's dropped a level down here and is more than capable against these fields with his peers.
We also don't have Steve Stricker this week, who is at Zurich, or Padraig Harrington. So again the top of the board is lacking its full strength.
Other Mitsubishi Electric Classic Bets:
- Ricardo Gonzalez +5500
- Doug Barron +6600
- Stuart Appleby +22500
Veritex Bank Championship – Korn Ferry Tour
Best Bet: Jackson Suber +5000 (BetRivers)
The Korn Ferry Tour is in Arlington this week at the Texas Rangers Golf Club. It's been a weird event the first three seasons from a betting perspective. Tyson Alexander won twice at massive numbers, including at 500-1 in 2021. Then Spencer Levin hit last year in the 300-1 range.
So naturally, I don't have a triple-digit play this week. Instead, I'm targeting Suber, who was 10th here last year and has four top 15s in eight starts on the KFT this season.
Suber is one of those guys that will win eventually, and this is just a pit stop for him before he inevitably winds up on the PGA Tour. He had a strong amateur resume which included three wins at Ole Miss in the 2021/22 campaign. He's had a lot of strong results and nearly got his PGA Tour card last season as a KFT rookie. This year, he's found himself inside the top 30 so far, and a win here would cement his place with the big guns next year.
Other Veritex Bank Championship Bets:
- Noah Goodwin +4000
- Trent Phillips +5000,
- Kristoffer Ventura +6600
- Trevor Cone +8000
UAE Challenge – Challenge Tour
Best Bet: Wil Besseling +4000 (bet365)
It's another week in the UAE for the up-and-comers in Europe.
I'll be focused on a Euro vet here with Besseling, however. This tour is probably a little below his true talent level, but 2023 wasn't great for him, and he wasn't able to maintain his status on the DP World Tour. However, he had five top fives tour during his stint there and is on track to return with two top 15s in his most recent starts on the Challenge Tour.
He's a really strong driver, but the rest of the game has been spotty. These Middle East courses tend to favor the players who are better off the tee, so he's worth a shot at this price.
Other UAE Challenge Bets:
- Deon Germishuys +3300
- Nicolai Kristensen +5000
- Pierre Pineau +8000
South African Women's Open – Ladies European Tour
Best Bet: Hannah Screen +4000 (bet365)
The Ladies Euro Tour makes another stop in South Africa this week. Outside of a few additions, it's pretty much the same field as last week.
I'll keep rolling with the young players on this tour and go with the LET rookie Screen this week. She was 10th last week, her best result in four starts, and she's coming off a great year on their developmental tour where she picked up a win and two seconds a year ago. She's also got the high level college pedigree, which tends to translate well over here after a solid career at Houston and Oklahoma.
Other South African Women's Open Bets:
- Sára Kousková +4000
