It was a rough week with too many close calls. We finished second on Korn Ferry and the DP World Tour and missed a playoff in Japan by a shot.
But a lot of guys have been getting into good positions lately, so hopefully another win is in the cards shortly.
Now we're ready for the Tour Championship and the end of the PGA Tour's 2024 season, so here's my global golf picks.
Tour Championship
Best Bet: Sam Burns (No Starting Strokes) +2500 BetRivers
It's hard to think of a more reviled way to end the season in any sport than this event, but here we are.
I'm not doing much with it, and I'll keep it simple here. Burns has been in great form the past two weeks, finishing second and fifth. He was also fourth in the stroke play portion here last year.
It's tough to really analyze much more given the format.
The British Masters
Best Bet: Matteo Manassero +4500 bet365
The DP World Tour heads to a familiar stop at The Belfry's Brabazon Course. It's held numerous Ryder Cups and played host to this event the past four seasons.
I'm going with Manassero at the top here. His career resurgence has been amazing over the past couple of years. He's already notched a win in South Africa this year after picking up two on the Challenge Tour in 2023.
He had solid finishes at the Olympics, The Open and Scottish Open, all of which had much more star power than this standard field for the World Tour.
He was also seventh on the course during a Challenge Tour event in 2022.
Other Bets: Alex Fitzpatrick +5000, Henrik Norlander +7500, Justin Walters +20000, Christofer Blomstrand +20000
FM Championship
Best Bet: Alexa Pano +12000 FanDuel
The LPGA heads to TPC Boston for the first time. It's been a regular part of the PGA Tour playoff rotation up until 2020. Now we'll see how the women attack it.
It's a course where driving and short game have been key for the men. That's what leads me to Alexa Pano this week. She's top-three in strokes gained off the tee and around the greens, so she should be an ideal fit for this course.
The putter is always an issue, but when it's right, she can contend. In the past year, she has a win and runner-up finish on this tour.
She should also be coming in with some confidence after a top-10 finish at the Women's Open at St. Andrew's last week.
Indonesia Open
Best Bet: Charlie Lindh +14000 bet365
The Asian Tour is back after a few weeks off. It's been traveling the globe lately with International Series events in England and Morocco, so the players finally get to head back to more comfortable surroundings.
Most of the players haven't been playing much lately or have been doing so on the lower developmental tours in the area, so it's tough to take a lot from the form.
I'll just take a long shot flier here with Charlie Lindh. He finished 13th in England and 26th in Morocco. He was also playing well enough to make it into the Open through the qualifier.
With a lot of unknowns this week, I'm fairly limited here, but this price seems worth the risk.
Fujisankei Classic
Best Bet: Hiroshi Iwata +6600 bet365
We're getting one of the regular tour stops in Japan this week. It's been held at Fujizakura Country Club since 2005, so we have a long track record.
That leads me to the vet Hiroshi Iwata this week. The form has been good. He won in June and has four top-20s in six starts since that victory.
He also plays pretty well here. He's placed inside the top 10 four times in the last nine years with second-, third- and fourth-place finishes. All that is missing is the win.
Other Bets: Ryuichi Oiwa +6600, Tomohiro Ishizaka +8000
Rosa Challenge
Best Bet: Lars van Meijel +4500 BetRivers
We'll wrap up with the Challenge Tour event in Poland this week.
We haven't seen it on this tour before, so there's no real track record. We just know it's short and there's a lot of water.
So, I'll just stick to the form and play Lars van Meijel here. In his past four starts, he's placed 17th or better in three of them, including a fifth last week.
It's been awhile since he's won on this tour, but he did get a win back in 2019. He's just on the outside of getting a DP World Tour card back for the first time since 2021, so the motivation is there.
Other Bets: Oihan Guillamondegui +6600, Dermot McElroy +7000, John Axelsen +9000, Calum Fyfe +15000
