We nearly lucked into one with Viktor Hovland at the St. Jude. It's not often we see someone meltdown like Hideki Matsuyama did only to then birdie two of the toughest holes on the course to snatch the victory back.

Onto this week's golf picks.

This is our last standard betting event of the season, with the Tour Championship still using its handicap system.

We also have five other tours around the global this week including the final LPGA major.

BMW Championship Picks

Best Bet: Wyndham Clark +3300 (BetRivers)

It's been a long time since we've seen Castle Pines, nearly two decades. But it's good to be back here.

It's a completely different test than what most of the players have seen all year. It stretches 8,000 yards but will play shorter with the altitude.

Clark will be my top player here in a relative home game for him back in the city he grew up. He's been a good form for awhile now. He's finished inside the top 15 in four of his last five tournaments. That includes a seventh last week and 14th at the Olympics on two courses that really aren't set up for his style.

This week is a better fit and a more comfortable setting, so I wouldn't be surprised to him in contention.

Other Bets: Tony Finau +3300, Will Zalatoris +9000, Nick Dunlap +12500

Danish Golf Championship Picks

Best Bet: Shubhankar Sharma +6600 (BetRivers)

For the second week in a row, the DP World Tour is sending us somewhere new. This time it's Lubker Golf Resort in Denmark. It has hosted a few small events on the circuit below the Challenge Tour, so there may be a local edge for some of the Danes this week.

I'll steer clear of the top portion with the unknowns on the course and the Hojgaards looming as favorites.

I do like Sharma this week. He had a disappointing Olympics, finishing 40th, but had two solid finishes prior in The Open and Scottish Open against the best on the PGA Tour. He was also fifth in Italy in his most recent DP World Tour start.

This seems like a good number for someone who has played pretty well in much deeper fields lately.

Other Bets: Andrea Pavan +6600, Robin Williams +10000, Lucas Bjerregaard +12500

AIG Women's Open Picks

Best Bet: Charley Hull +3000 (bet365)

The women get their chance at St. Andrew's for the first time since 2013 in their final major of the season.

Hull is my focus this week. She's had a few cracks at majors during her career, recently finishing second at this event and the U.S. Open in 2023. Her game seems to be in a good spot to finally break through. She's coming off a fifth in the Scottish Open last week and does have a couple of seconds during the year.

Hull has been solid throughout the major season, so we'll back her to win in her native U.K.

Other Bets: Hannah Green +4000, Rio Takeda +7000, Haruka Kawasaki +10000

Boise Open Picks

Best Bet: William Mouw +4500 (BetRivers)

The Korn Ferry Tour finals begin this week with the usual spot in Boise. It's a shorter course at altitude, so I like to look at the Utah event a couple of weeks ago as a starting point.

That's part of what gets me to Mouw, who was fourth at that event and has been pretty solid overall. He's a guy who is probably one solid week away from really locking down a tour card for next season.

Like many tournaments on this tour, this one tends to be low-scoring. Mouw ranks third on the tour in scoring average and 14th in birdie average, so this is a good price for someone of his level.

Other Bets: Isaiah Salinda +5000, Frankie Capan +5000, Austin Hitt +5500, Will Chandler +10000

Ally Challenge Picks

Best Bet: Rod Pampling +8000 (bet365)

The Champions Tour heads to Michigan for the seventh Ally Challenge this week.

At over 7,000 yards, it's on the longer side for the 50+ crowd, so distance has been helpful in the past.

No one at the top really caught my eye with everyone seemingly properly priced, so I'll start with Pampling instead.

Pampling's form has been hit or miss all year, but I'll take a chance that this is just a course that suits him. He's finished 16th or better in all four appearances with three top 10s in that run.

Other Bets: David Bransdon +11000, Shane Bertsch +14000

KBC Augusta Picks

Best Bet: Sang-Hee Lee +2200 (bet365)

We'll wrap up the week in Japan with one of the more familiar stops on this tour and has been played at Keya Golf Club for over 30 years now.

It's always nice to have that type of track record overseas. Sang-Hee Lee is the top play this week this time. In his last three appearances here, he's gone 16th, second and 6th.

He's also been playing really well of late bouncing between the Japan and Korean tours. He's finished 11th or better in five straight events.

Other Bets: Taichi Nabetani +2800
