Houston Open Odds 2024

The PGA Tour heads to Houston, Texas for the Houston Open at Memorial Park Golf Course following 350-1 longshot Peter Malnati's two-shot win over Cameron Young at the Valspar Championship.

As of Wednesday morning, Malnati has 140-1 odds to win outright this week at bet365 after opening at 100-1. The Missouri Tiger will make his seventh Houston Open appearance and his third start at Memorial Park this week. He missed both cuts at Memorial Park in his two tries, but he had a T17 in his lone made cut in Houston in October of 2019 at the Golf Club of Houston.

He and everyone else in the field are looking up at Scottie Scheffler on the odds board as the Texas Longhorn is +280 to win this week. Scheffler is making his fifth Houston Open start this week and enters in style as the No. 1 golfer in the world, FedEx Cup Points leader and a winner of consecutive Signature Events at TPC Sawgrass and Bay Hill.

— Justin Ray (@JustinRayGolf) March 17, 2024

He has back-to-back top-10 finishes at Memorial Park with a tie for ninth in 2022 and a tie for second in 2021. Scheffler excelled in those two starts with his typically strong ball-striking, as he ranked third in Strokes Gained (SG): Tee to Green (+2.68 per round, via Data Golf) in 2022 and second in SG: Tee to Green in 2021 (+2.84).

Defending Houston Open champion Tony Finau returns to defend his title this week with the fifth-shortest outright odds at +2700 after opening at +1600 on Monday morning. He will make his eighth Houston Open start this week as he only has one top-20 finish: his win in 2022. He has made five of seven cuts here and has a T24 from 2020 and a missed cut from 2021 in his two other starts at Memorial Park.

Finau is looking to bounce back after his first missed cut of the year this past weekend at the Valspar Championship, where he missed the cut by five shots.

Wyndham Clark also has one missed cut this season at The Genesis Invitational, and he followed that up with consecutive runner-up finishes at THE PLAYERS and Arnold Palmer Invitational, behind only Scheffler on each occasion. The three-time PGA Tour winner enters with the second-shortest odds to win outright this week at +1300 after opening at +1200.

A winner earlier this season after 54 holes at Pebble Beach, Clark is now second on the FedExCup Standings after his trio of top-two finishes. The Oregon Duck makes his fourth Houston Open start this week, with a T16 in 2022, T41 in 2021 and a missed cut in 2020.

Sahith Theegala resides in nearby Spring, Texas, and he opened with +2200 odds to win this week in Houston. His four top-10 finishes this season are tied for third (along with Sam Burns) on the PGA Tour behind only Scheffler (six) and Xander Schauffele (six). Three of those four top-10 finishes have come in his last four starts, including at the back-to-back Signature Events in Florida with a T6 at the Arnold Palmer Invitational and a T9 at THE PLAYERS.

The Pepperdine Wave enters fifth in the FedExCup Standings and sixth in SG: Total at +1.446 per round this season. Theegala has been solid Off the Tee (26th by SG) and on Approach (58th) while surprisingly slightly losing strokes Around the Green. His putting has helped make up for his short game and lack of Driving Accuracy as he is seventh in SG: Putting this season at +0.821 per round. Theegala has since shortened to +2000 to win outright as of Wednesday morning.
