The PGA Tour heads to Texas this week, and that means it's time for Houston Open One & Done Picks for 2024. Our golf betting analyst has four OAD selections to consider whether you are ahead or behind in a large or small One & Done pool.
This week features another very stern test at Memorial Park Golf Course for the Texas Children's Houston Open. This is one of the best times of the year as we lead up to major season and see so few birdie-fests like we do at the start of the year.
Memorial Park is a tough track that requires the full bag to be working, but the driver matters more than most. Not only do golfers need to be accurate off the tee, but they also need to be extremely long. Back-to-back winners Jason Kokrak and Tony Finau show that the recipe for success here is to bomb it.
Let's take a look at the board and find the best options for your Houston Open One & Done Picks for 2024.
Houston Open One & Done Picks 2024
Tony Finau +2400
I am willing to forgive Tony Finau for his poor week in Tampa as he missed the cut by five this past weekend at the Valspar Championship. He is sneakily playing really well in 2024 and hitting the ball from Tee to Green as well as he ever has. He ranks 19th in Strokes Gained: Tee to Green this season and is 10th on Approach.
However, the putter has not been cooperating, which is extremely normal for Finau. He has shown great things with the putter on this course when he won in 2022, and we do not need him to roll a ton of birdie putts. If Finau can pound fairways and greens, he will be fine on this golf course and find his way up the leaderboard.
Si Woo Kim +3200
Believe it or not, Si Woo Kim is a Texas resident. More importantly than that, he is playing great golf. He has put on an absolute ball-striking display the last few weeks and had one of his best results of the season two weeks ago at THE PLAYERS. He gained strokes across the board for the first time since his tie for second in Dallas last season.
The last time Kim played this event, he gained over eight strokes on Approach, so he is clearly comfortable on this golf course. Kim is not the longest driver on Tour, but he is among the 10 most accurate drivers this season. The four-time PGA Tour winner is a great One & Done option and will not be extremely owned.
Keith Mitchell +4500
I am willing to go back to Keith Mitchell off the somewhat solid week in Tampa. He is putting on a great Tee to Green display and hitting his irons as solid as he has in his whole career.
The Georgia Bulldog played this event last year and finished in a tie for ninth. What caught my eye about that was that he gained five strokes on Approach in that event last year. This is notable because he was not hitting his irons well last year, so something may suit his eye at Memorial Park.
Mitchell is trending in the right direction and clearly has upside because of his elite Total Driving. This is a perfect course for his style of play because he will hit a ton of drivers all four days. He may garner some ownership because he popped up last week, but he is a safe option to make the cut and can find his way up the top of the leaderboard.
Vincent Norrman +13000
Are you looking for a longshot option with upside? Vincent Norrman is not in the best of form, but his best weapon is the driver, and his mid and long irons are also solid. Norrman already has two wins across the globe, which is extremely impressive for being so young. I do not believe he will win this event, but he surely has the ability to pop up with no form and even crack the top 10 if his putter and short game cooperate.
No one will be on Norrman, and if you want to get different, he is your a quality risk/reward option.
